Thirty-six typescript and manuscript letters, 1977-1994, from Thomas Dilworth, University of Windsor, Ontario, to Huw Ceiriog Jones, Bow Street and the National Library of Wales, concerning their research into the poet and artist David Jones as well as relating personal news.
Also included are a printout of an email exchange between Jones and Dilworth, September 2021, and explanatory notes (in Welsh) by the donor, 2024.

The file comprises mainly of correspondence, 1968-1969, relating to the preliminary meeting and other early meetings of the English Language Section of the Academi. The preliminary meeting was arranged by Meic Stephens and the file includes invitations sent out by him, letters of reply, and letters commenting on this first meeting. The file also includes letters inviting writers to become members of the Academi, their replies and lists of those writers who have accepted or declined membership. There are a few references to discussions about the establishment of a new English language literary magazine, an idea which was rejected for the time being. A ride through the wood

The file mainly comprises typescript drafts, [1977]-1985, of some of the articles which appeared in A ride through the wood : essays on Anglo-Welsh literature, (Bridgend, 1985), including essays on David Jones, Alun Lewis, and Emyr Humphreys. Also included is a reprint of the article 'David Jones - towards the 'holy diversities'' from Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion (1981); and a printed copy of the Annual Gwyn Jones lecture, The lonely editor: a glance at Anglo-Welsh magazines (Cardiff, 1984).

Copy of essay by Tony Curtis, titled 'That Golden Decade - David Jones, Ceri Richards, Merlyn Evans and Josef Herman: the four Gold Medal winners at the Welsh National Eisteddfod in the 1960s', to be included in a portfolio, published July 2008, of commissioned essays and a set of original prints to celebrate the Contemporary Art Society for Wales (CASW)'s seventieth anniversary. Essay annotated 'FINAL' in Curtis's hand, presumably indicating the final draft of the work.
