Twelve booklets containing transcripts, [1772x1787], by Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) from various printed and manuscript sources relating to the history of Wales, including letters from Dr John Davies of Mallwyd to Sir John Wynn and Owen Wynn of Gwydir in relation to Dr Thomas Williams's dictionary; letters from Robert Vaughan to Sir Richard Wynn and Sir Owen Wynn; an account of Merioneth by Robert Vaughan; 'Cywydd marwnad Huw Morus'; and a 'carol plygain' by Edward Samuel.
Transcribed in part from a book published in MDCCLXXII [1772] (p. 6).

A composite volume in the hand of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing notes on the Statute of Rhuddlan by Lewis Morris (pp. 1-11); Welsh poetry with Latin translations (pp. 12-32) and further Welsh poetry, by Iolo Goch, Lewis Glyn Cothi, Guto'r Glyn, Hywel ap Dafydd ab Ieuan ap Rhys (Hywel Dafi) and others (pp. 237-408); notes on musical notation (pp. 33-84) and on 'the music of the antient Britons' (pp. 90-99); a poem to 'J. W. The Gododdin, &c.

Two volumes of transcripts, [1758], compiled Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), subsequently bound as one volume. Part I (foliated 1-153) contains 'The Gododin an Heroic poem of the sixth Century transcribed from a Copy of Thomas Wiliams of Trefriw M.D., and the Works of Taliessin from Dr Davies of Mallwyd's hand, and other particulars wrote by the Revd Mr. Evan Evans' (f. 1) and includes transcripts of Llyfr Aneirin (ff. 5 verso-36), Llyfr Taliesin (ff. 37-126) and other manuscripts.
Part II (foliated 1-73) contains further poetry, by poets including Llywarch Hen, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ab Edmwnd and Gutun Owain (ff. 1-28, 34 verso-47); notes on Welsh orthography (following the cywydd beginning at f. 19); a list of poets from a manuscript of Dr John Davies (f. 39 verso); a copy of Sir Thomas Wiliems's Preface to his Latin-Welsh Dictionary (ff. 48-64); a letter, dated 26 January 1757, from Lewis Morris to 'Mr. Vaughan of Corsygedol' (ff. 65-69); a letter, dated 14 June 1755, from Richard Morris to the same Mr Vaughan, enclosing a copy of the Transactions of the Society of Cymmrodorion and referring to Lewis Morris and to Goronwy Owen (ff. 70-71); and a table of contents for Part I only, [?in the hand of Owain Myfyr] (f. 72).

Vn o G. y Gedol ... a fy farw ... yn y flwyddyn 1775' by Evans (pp. 1-8), and other poetry by him (pp. 275-308), Thomas Jones (Twm Siôn Cati), Siôn Cent, Edmwnd Prys and others (pp. 1-12, 33-114, 205-218, 247-258, 275-310); extracts from the manuscripts of Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt (pp. 13-32, 119-126, 142-158) and John David Rhys (Siôn Dafydd Rhys) (pp. 139-141); notes relating to Lewis Morris (pp. 115-118); a copy of the charter of Clynnog Fawr (pp. 127-130) (see Monasticon Anglicanum, vol. A volume in the hand of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing pedigrees and genealogy (pp. 1-93, 117-133), including transcripts from Heraldic Visitations of Wales, Vol. II, pp. 67, 83, 97-111, 104-105, 107-109, 119, 122, 139-140, 285, 290-291 (pp. 1-21, 57-93, 131-133); words added by Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, to his Dictionary (pp. 97-110) and his additions to the Welsh proverbs (pp. 111-116); historical extracts (pp. 155-180, 210-230); etc.
The text beginning at p. 210 is from a manuscript of Wiliam Llŷn and contains Annales Oweni Glyndwr (see NLW MS 1991B and Peniarth MS 267, pp. 4-14).

Triads; manuscript collections, &c.

A manuscript containing 'A translation of the Triads ... by Mr Lewis Morris out of Mr. Vaughan of Hengwrt's copy ...', transcribed and corrected by Ieuan Fardd, 12 October 1773 (pp. 3-47); and a list of collections of Welsh manuscripts (pp. 81-87).
The volume also includes a list of proverbs needing correction or insertion in John Davies, Mallwyd's Dictionary (pp. 50-59); a 'catalogue of the works' of Llywarch Hen, Myrddin, Taliesin and Aneirin 'out of Moses Williams's collection' (pp. 73-80); an elegy to Humphrey Llwyd, author of the Breviary of Britain, by Lewis ap Edwart (pp. 87-95); etc.

Poetry and a history of Owain Glyndŵr

A composite volume mostly in the autograph of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), containing poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym, Cynddelw, Guto'r Glyn and Ieuan Fardd and others, some of it 'collected by Dr. Davies of Mallwyd ... [and] transcribed from a MS. which belonged to Bp. Humphreys' (see f. 1) (ff. 1-48, 61-155); a History of Owain Glyndŵr 'out of William Morris [Maurice] of Llansilin's book' (ff. 49-59); etc.
A letter, 7 September 1792, from Hy Hughes, Pencraig, to 'David' is pasted in at the end of the volume.

Welsh proverbs, &c.

A manuscript, in two parts, in the hand of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd). The first part (old foliation 1-56) contains a dedication to Sir Watkin Williams Wynn of Wynnstay and a dedicatory preface in which it is stated that this transcript was made from the exemplar of William Maurice of Cefn y Braich 'in tua Bibliotheca Lanvordaviana' (pp. 3-12), and an address to the reader which relates to the sources of the collection (pp. 17-95); Gruffudd Hiraethog's 'Lloegr-drigiant Ddifyrrwch Brytannaidd Gymro' (pp. 97-109; cf. Peniarth MS 155); and a copy of the Latin and Welsh prefaces as printed before the Proverbs in the Dictionarium Duplex of Dr John Davies, 1632 (pp. 110-112). The second part (old foliation 1-316) contains 'Adagia Britannica' or Welsh proverbs collected by 'yr Hên Gyrys o Jal', with translations into Latin and some illustrative notes by Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, copied from the transcript made by William Maurice of Llansilin 'ex prototypo' in 1675 (this collection is fuller than that printed at the end of Dr Davies's Dictionary) (pp. 113-654); followed by 'Cas bethau gwyr Rhufain' and 'Cas ddynion Selyf Ddoeth', etc. (pp. 655-680); further material from the 'Lloegr-drigiant Ddifyrrwch Brytannaidd Gymro' of Gruffudd Hiraethog (pp. 689-733); etc.
