Correspondence and papers, 1987-1989, relating to John Petts's work for the Golden Grove Book Company Ltd, including nine letters from Lynn Hughes, together with notes and draft illustrations by Petts. Amongst the latter are papers relating to the republication of Ivor Thomas, Top Sawyer (1988), and sketches for a proposed but unpublished volume of 'Laugharne Poems' by Dylan Thomas, with a draft layout of the book by its designer, Nicholas Thirkell.

Forty-eight letters, 1934-1980, to John Petts from various correspondents including David Jones (7) 1954-1956, Professor Gwyn Jones (5, together with a draft introduction for a projected but apparently unpublished volume entitled 'Woodcuts of Wales'), 1947-1949, Alun Lewis (15) [1940]-1943, and Gwyn Williams, Trefenter (2) 1949-1951; also included is one letter, 1942, to Alun Lewis from Huw Menai, enclosing three autograph poems.

Eleven letters, 1975, to John Petts relating to a retrospective exhibition of his work held at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, including letters of appreciation from Kyffin Williams, John Piper, Lord Snowdon, Glyn Jones, Gwynfor Evans, Moelwyn Merchant and George Thomas, Viscount Tonypandy, together with a typescript draft of the catalogue and a draft of the cover design by John Petts.

Nine letters, 1934-[1942], from Brenda Chamberlain, writing from Bangor and Tŷ'r Mynydd, to her husband John Petts (ff. 1-18). The correspondence reflects the increasing distance between husband and wife, and includes references to Hugh MacDiarmid (f. 14), local War experiences (f. 15), and a commission for a National Eisteddfod certificate (f. 16).
Also included is a holograph song, 1942, presented by Sydney Burkinshaw to Chamberlain (ff. 19-20), and a printed poem by Chamberlain, entitled 'Christmas Eve' (ff. 21-22).

Over eighty letters and cards, 1934-1968, to John Petts from his first wife, the artist and writer Brenda Chamberlain (1912-71), together with related correspondence, 1941-1988, concerning their relationship, including reminiscences of her, 1988, by their friend Elizabeth Jones. Also included are sketches, trial pulls of prints, and a proof copy of a booklet of hand-coloured prints all by Brenda Chamberlain, mainly produced whilst running the Caseg Press, Llanllechid, in partnership with John Petts.

Letters, 1945-1991, to John Petts comprising over a hundred, 1945-1959, from Christopher Sandford of the Golden Cockerel Press and eight, 1959-1961, from Sandford's successor, John Frost, mainly concerning Petts's engravings for books published by them, notably Against Women (1953) and In Defence of Woman (1960).
