Notebooks of 'Eben Fardd',

A composite volume made up of notebooks, etc. in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') containing notes on 'Evidences of Christianity' ('From Abbott', 'Paley's Evidences') and on Latin grammar, copies of memorial inscriptions (Clynnog churchyard, Llanarmon churchyard), pedigrees, 'Biosianos' (a few autobiographical notes ending 1839) etc.; 'Caniadau sef Awdlau, Cywyddau, ac Englynion ynghyd a Chaniadau ar amryw fesurau eraill o waith Ebenezer Thomas neu Cybi o Eifion y rhai a ysgrifenodd, pan oedd yn ysgol Tydweiliog ei oedran 18. Gorffen haf 4. 1821', being early poetical compositions by 'Eben Fardd', 1819-24, one or two crossed out; another notebook containing 'The Pedigree of Rowland Jones of Broom Hall Esq. Extracted from the Works of his Father, Row. Jones of Hendre, and afterwards of the Inner Temple London, Esqr. Barrister at Law', followed by notes in pencil and other pedigrees (Prysgyni, Tanybryn Llanllyfni, the Glynllifon family); a cutting of verses entitled 'Llan y Plwy' printed in Y Cymro, with an explanatory note in the autograph of 'E[ben] Vardd'; and some later poetical compositions by 'Eben Fardd'.

Merionethshire and Caernarvonshire records (facsimile)

A facsimile manuscript in two parts mostly in the hand of William Watkin Edward Wynne. The first part comprises copies (some printed) of charters, public records, deeds, pedigrees, poetry, etc. of Merionethshire and Caernarvonshire interest, some of which are taken from transcripts made by Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt. The material includes records and pedigrees relating to the Wynn family of Peniarth; notes on the Maurice and Owen families of Clenennau, Penmorfa, Caernarvonshire, with related deeds possibly in the hand of William Maurice of Llansilin; deeds relating to the Porkington estate; an extent of the commote of Eifionydd, 1352; an extract from the Coroner's Rolls for Merionethshire, 1345; charters of Castell y Bere and Harlech Castle; pedigrees of Madog ap Dafydd of Hendwr, Llandrillo, Merionethshire; an ode to Einion ap Gruffydd of Corsygedol by Gruffudd Gryg; odes to Dafydd ab Ieuan ab Einion by Guto'r Glyn and Dafydd Nanmor; letters addressed to W. W. E. Wynne, the correspondents including Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'); etc. The second part is also mostly in the hand of W. W. E. Wynne and again comprises material mainly of Merionethshire and Caernarvonshire interest, including pedigrees, correspondence, deeds, etc. relating to the Porkington estate and to the Maurice family and to the Wynne family of Glyn and Ystumcegid, Caernarvonshire; poetry relating to members of the Wynn family of Glyn by Huw Machno, Rhisiart Cynwal and others (one elegy translated into English); press cuttings taken from the Cambrian News, 1879; letters addressed to W. W. E. Wynne, the correspondents including Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain') and Joseph Morris; etc.

A manuscript containing North Wales pedigrees, mainly of Anglesey and Caernarfonshire families; transcripts by Angharad Llwyd (1780-1866) of other Welsh pedigrees and of legal and historical records; letters to Angharad Llwyd from Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick (1783-1848), John Hughes, barrister, and W. W. E. Wynne (1801-1880); correspondence from Viscount Bulkeley (1736-1791), 1774, to John Lloyd (1733-1793), Caerwys, father of Angharad Llwyd.

A transcript, made from British Museum Harleian MS 1974, of pedigrees of Anglesey and Caernarvonshire families; lists of justices of the peace in Anglesey and Caernarvonshire, 1620; names and arms of the justiciaries of Anglesey and Caernarvonshire, 1601; and lists of the high sheriffs of Anglesey, 1541-1601.
