Written at Treasury Chambers, Whitehall, S.W. Are leaving early by motor car the next day. Suggests a day's fishing. The Budget has been well received and has heartened the Liberal ranks. The ballot of the miners is going badly. Even if the miners obey the directive of the executive to return to work, they will do so 'in a sullen & angry mood'. The dispute could well have been avoided 'but for an untimely fit of pedantry'.
