Taormina

Two school exercise books containing 'Taormina', Christopher Morgan's translation of Roger Peyrefitte's 'Le Baron de Sweden', and two annotated typescripts (35 pp, one missing pp. 22 and 33-34).

Tony Curtis poems and prose

Original file of carbon copies and photocopies of typescript poems by Tony Curtis, the few dated items being 1969-1971. Also 'Pierce (a play for television)' and three articles or short stories. Also a few poems by Christopher Morgan and Matt Simpson, also undated, a postcard from Ian [Robinson] and a Brynmill Press book catalogue, 1983.

Castile magazine

Copies of 'Castile', vol. 1, no's 2-3, undated, including poems by Christopher Morgan. 'Castile' was edited by Richard Thomas, and stated to be the successor to 'The New Clynian', which had been established in the beginning of the 1960s. 'Castile' was probably a Swansea University student / English Department publication, with contributions from the students of Neuadd Gilbertson, Neuadd Martin and Beck Hall.

Articles

The contents of a concertina file (discarded) entitled 'Christopher Morgan, freelance writer', arranged by Imelda Morgan his sister, comprising articles, many published in the 'Freelance Informer', and poems, 1992-204, and letters from Michael Pockley, a former pupil at Marlborough House school, 2004-2007.

Manor of Traean rent roll

Rent roll of the rents due at Lady Day 1724 and chief rents due at Michaelmas 1723 and 1724 for the manor of Traean, including gafaelion Dudleston, Pentrecoed, Ifton, Rhyn, Weston, Wigginton, Bron-y-garth, Trehowell, Weston Rhyn and Morton, [p's Ellesmere, Oswestry and St Martin's, co. Shrop.]. At the back of the volume are several account entries, 1724-1725.

A homemade volume of one gathering (12 ff.) with a cover made from a mutilated deed, apparently comprising a demise between Robert Griffiths of [--] and Thomas Jervis of Pool, co. Mont., ironmonger, for 99 years of an unspecified property, reciting a lease dated 11 June [1712], and a lease between William, Lord Powis, and Robert [--], co. Mont, tanner, 1699.

Survey of Bwlchcynbyd

Copy survey of the lordship of Forest Bwlchcynbyd, p. Llanybydder, co. Carm., by David Lewis, surveyor, 4 Aug. 1831. About 30 years ago the court leet used to be held at a place called Letty Llwynwith, but since then jointly held with the lordship of Glyncothy at Brechfa. There are about 11 freehold tenements and cottages with 900a. of land, and no copyhold tenures. The lordship contains 1,280a, including 250a. also claimed by the lordship of Mabelfyw. Also observations and a presentment of the boundaries of the lordship. Written on paper embossed with the Royal Arms, and appearing like a Public Record Office copy, including an examination mark (x'd), but not attested or dated.

Family ephemera

The file comprises ephemera relating to Lord MacDonald and his family, including a passport, ration books, Lord MacDonald's birth and death certificates.

Miscellaneous items

File comprises a memo confirming the appointment of Gordon MacDonald as a member of the Board for Mining Examinations, a letter dated 24 April 1945, newspaper cuttings and a copies of the North Western Fuel Luncheon Club Bulletin.

Newfoundland Railway

File comprises documents related to the Newfoundland Railway, including extracts from the report of government members of the railway commission (which reported on the railway before it was transferred to Newfoundland Government ownership in the early 1920s) giving details of the construction of the railway, its traffic and financial situation.

File of typed speeches

File comprises typed speeches (not given by Lord MacDonald) one of which may have been presented to Lord MacDonald as part of Teachers Week at the Newfoundland Teachers Association and a handwritten essay/speech in Welsh discussing crossing the Atlantic and mentioning the ships in St Johns

Correspondence related to the terms of union

File comprises correspondence including telegrams related to giving effect to the terms of union, correspondence with Colonial Relations office, typed notes on the terms of union between Newfoundland and Canada, typed financial notes regarding recoverable working capital and Canada's new liabilities in respect of Gander Airport, steamships, the Newfoundland Railway, the Broadcasting Corporation of Newfoundland, cash and telecommunications.

Referendum

The file comprises a copy of the official government newspaper, the Newfoundland Gazette dated 7 May 1948 containing a Royal Proclamation announcing the initial 3 option referendum on 3 June 1948 along with with copies of the Terms of Union with Canada.
