'Breiniae Arvon' beginning 'y man y llas Elidir Mwynvawr ...', 'allan o hen lyfr Cyfreth Ho: Da. or eidho Mr Jo: Edds. Iolo Morganwg describes the handwriting as 'Llaw Thomas Williams o Drefriw, awdur y Geirlyfr Lladin a Chymraeg', but this does not seem to be the case. On the reverse side are a few dates, 1415-1608, ending 'drydaniaeth 1608'. Endorsed by Iolo Morganwg, 'Breinlau Gwyr Arfon'.

Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant with the Plough Inn (landlord E.J. Hughes) on the left. On the right can be seen an enamelled sign advertising Home & Colonial Tea. In the 1911 census Edward John Hughes aged 48 is listed as the landlord of the Plough Inn.
