[Walter Davies], Y Mechain, [?Oxford] to Mr Edwd Williams, No. 3 Crown Court, Grays Inn Lane, or Mr W. Owen, 11 Pratt Place, Camden Town, or Mr Owen Jones, 148 Thames Street. Writing to them by Mr John Jones of Jes. Col. (who comes to London to be initiated into their Society). Immaterial to which to address it, for he considers the three of them as one and Mr Edwd Jones as another. The Leverian Catalogue. The MS of Brut y Brenhinoedd which Mr O. Jones gave him is not a copy from Llyfr Coch. On the dorse in another hand is the following note: 'Mr E. Williams is desir'd to call on Monday 1/2 after ten, at No. 42 Carey Street near Lincoln's Inn'.

The Celtic Remains did not arrive at Llanfechain until Sept. 3. He is sorry to hear that Mr Jones the Harper has suffered such a loss - it is also a public loss as he had accumulated MSS, some of those perhaps irretrievable. A reply to Mr Owen concerning the situations of the places mentioned by Llywarch. His own opinion of the Celtic Remains. Iorwerth in his letter discussed very fully on Coelbren y Beirdd, for which he (WD) returns him thanks. Mr David Richards of Tywyn, Meirionydd, is here printing his Cywydd y Drindod. Iolo Morganwg has used the blank portion of the sheet to write some etymological notes. Endorsed: 'Walter Davies & Welsh Words'.

Walter Davies, Tenby, to Mr Edwd Williams of Flimston, 'To be left at the Post Office at Tenby until called for'. He concludes the addressee's daughter is recovering and that he also will be here (at Tenby) in a day or two. He now goes to Pembroke - Haverfordwest - St Davids - Fishguard, where he expects either to see the addressee or to hear from him if they do not accidentally meet in the meantime. Asking him what course he intends to take if he goes between this and Christmas to Mon ac Arfon, as Mr Ow. Jones hints to the writer. His wish for information about Bardsey, etc. Three of the addressee's friends at Jesus (named) took their degrees of A. B. this morning. Seven more took the same degree, among whom was the writer.

A request for information respecting some of the descendants of Iestyn ap Gwrgant and of Athelystan Glodrydd, two of the five royal tribes. Mr Yorke of Erthig in co. Denb. is publishing on the subject. He (WD) has lately seen a Cyhoeddiad Eisteddvod, etc., but does not comprehend it. By what time are the translations of Gray's Ode to be sent in?.

An account of his route homewards from the place they parted at Ewenni. He has just received a letter from Mr O. Jones requesting a note of hand upon a proper stamp for £50; he really cannot help being surprised at the request. Requesting the addressee to forward by post his remaining packet as soon as possible. He wishes he would write a little copiously on the properties of lime. His respects to the addressee's family and to Mr Thomas of St Athan, also to Mr John Williams and Mrs Williams, his hospitable hosts at St Athan. Has the addressee heard anything further from Southcott's Tyroes?.

Walter Davies, Manavon, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Schoolmaster, Merthyr Tudful. He hopes to hear by the bearer that the obstacle to the publication of the Cyfrinach y Beirdd has been removed. When he was in the Vale of Glamorgan in 1811 he remembers giving the addressee a copy of 'Awdl Amaethyddiaeth'. He now finds that he has forgotten it, and more, that he kept no copy of it - he has preserved a copy of his other awdlau. If the addressee can lay his hand upon it, will he lend it to him to copy?

The addressee's silence since they parted at Carmarthen in July 1819. He wrote a long letter to Taliesin soon after the Eisteddfod at Carmarthen, but received no answer. The approaching Powys Eisteddfod at Wrexham on Sept. 13-14 which the addressee is invited to attend. Sketching out EW's line of road to Wrexham. It is now a long time since the writer left Glamorgan Requesting the addressee, after consulting his father, to answer the following questions (concerning agriculture, etc., in Glamorgan). Walter Davies, Manafon, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Glebeland, Merthyr. Thanking him for his letter and also for his promise to try to ferret out poor Mynyddig's lost 'cywydd'. Reference to the attack upon the addressee's Cardiff Awdl. Colyn Dolphin - names of subscribers. The addressee intends kidnapping Sion Davydd Rhys - may he succeed. The writer undertook a similar performance with regard to Owain Glyndwr and succeeded though he met with some opposition. The poems of Lewys Glynn Cothi. 'Fanny blooming Fair' and 'Ffanni blodau'r ffair'. The orthography of Tegid and the addressee - they are both wrong.

Resolutions of a meeting held at Wrexham on Oct. 6 last (Cymmrodorion Society of Powys); the subjects for competition at the Wrexham Eisteddfod in August, etc. The writer has agreed with a Wrexham printer to publish his edition of the works of Huw Morus. Telling the addressee not to let the Englynion i D. ab Edmwnt go out of his hands. Has he seen an Amseroni for 1820? - how the author styles himself. On the back of the letter is part of a reply (in the autograph of Iolo Morganwg) beginning, 'My father has several pieces by Hugh Morys that have never been printed ...'. Asking the addressee to answer by return of post, and if he can send the papers promised too, so much the better. Myfyr and Meirion have had lately a violent squabble with some Venedotians with D. Ddu o Eryri at their head, about the Greal. The writer has been told (by a Salopian) of a letter to Myfyr from the addressee in March last which gave the poor man great uneasiness. He wishes with all his heart he could make them both as good friends as they formerly were (i.e. EW and Myfyr). He wishes the addressee had occasion to come this way, and stop (stay) a week, or as long as he pleases.
