John Jenkins, Kilbronne near Cardigan, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr Tydfil. Rectifying a mistake in his letter from Brecon. Would have done so before but that he was called immediately on his return to Kerry to proceed to this his native place on account of the death of a near relative.

Anne Jones, The Moat, Kerry, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr Tydvil. Her sister, Mrs Jenkins, requests her to inform him that she received his collection of minerals and fossils safely, about a fortnight after the death of Mr Jenkins, but in time to be sent with the other specimens to the Museum at York. The copies of Cyfrinach y Beirdd likewise arrived safely. A question concerning the three MS music-books written by the addressee's father - Mrs Jenkins intends leaving this place in the course of a fortnight to reside at Crosswood near Welshpool.

[John Jones] 'Tegid', Christ Church, Oxford, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr Tydvil. The boy Trump. Reference to his fruitless journey to Merthyr. Is mightily pleased that he attended the Abergavenny Eisteddfod. Lady Charlotte was greatly pleased that the addressee should approve of his extempore lines on the little group and that he had taken a copy of them. The word 'gwrwd'.

[W. E. Jones], 'Cawrdaf', and [D. L. Jones], 'Clunadda', Caerfyrddin, to Mr D. Jones, Boot, Merthyr. Their adjudication of the compositions. 'Rhwydd hynt i Eisteddfod y Fottas.' An assurance to Taliesin of their warmest sympathy with him in his affliction.

[W. E. Jones], 'Cawrdaf', Pontfaen, to Ab Iolo, Merthyr Tudful. He has glanced over the compositions he received from the addressee and will deal with them in details again. It will be impossible for him to come to Pontytypridd to meet the addressee until next Saturday as Y Gwron will not have been published before that. Shall they meet definitely at Pontytypridd then, or shall they put their heads together when they meet at Abergavenny? He was very sorry to hear of the addressee's illness.

John Kibbey, 1 Taunton Place, Brunswick Street, Dover Road, or Southwark Literary Inst., to Mr Thalliessin [sic] Williams, Merthyr. Being a member of the 'Southwark Literary Institution' and known to be a 'Cymro' he has been urged by their Secretary to deliver a lecture on the national character of the Welsh as shown in her songs, indeed her music. Is a native of Cardiff - gave up the musical profession six years ago and now conducts a large public school in town. The kind of assistance required.

W. B. Knight, Margam, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr. The writer's pamphlet has been some days in the press. Wishing to know whether he may insert somewhere the following observation which is almost copied from the addressee's letter.

His great satisfaction at learning from his brother that the addressee did not consider the reply of Mr Jones to his Remarks as deserving of notice and that no rejoinder was called for on his part. His determination (however) to expose Mr Jones ['Tegid'].

W. B. Knight, Margam, to Mr Taliesin Williams. Sending two small volumes as a mark of his regard and thankfulness (relating to Welsh orthography). Why he still thinks it necessary to issue his Pamphlet - his Essay will be out next week. How he had hoped before this to have paid his personal respects to the addressee at Merthyr - reference to calamitous events which obliged him to alter his intention.

Asking the addressee to send him a line by return of post pledging obedience and his presence. P. S. Telling him to adopt or reject any of the proposed alterations as he pleases.

W. B. Knight, Duffryn, to Ab Iolo, Merthyr Tydfil. In their conversation yesterday he omitted to mention a notion he entertained that 'iddynt' was wanted in the last line of the addressee's englynion.

Judgment of Chancellor W. B. Knight on the question whether Shew or Show is the correct spelling. He gives sentence in favour of Shew.

Wm D. [Leathart], London, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr Tydfil. He duly received the addressee's of Dec. 16, but being from home he could not have the pleasure of answering it. In consequence of an anticipated removal of the family to another house they have not yet had the list printed - as soon as it is, the addressee shall be provided with some. To his enquiries respecting the Gwyneddigion he can only say that in his History of the Gwyn[eddigio]n he gleaned all the information that at that time could be gleaned on general matters, and since that time many have died that must have known the addressee's father well. Some account of the members of the Council, etc. (Written on a printed sheet giving the names of the Officers, etc., for 1839, with the requisite alterations for 1840 made in writing. Taliesin Williams, who became a member in 1830, is named as the Society's Bard for 1840, in place of the Rev. Thomas Price, 'Carnhuanawc').

M[ary] C. Llewellyn, Clymping Vicarage, to Mr Taliesin Williams (Ab Iolo), Merthyr Tydvil. She has just seen his notice of her uncle in the Merthyr paper - how she feels his kindness. Vividly has the addressee brought to her mind the pleasant evenings of her childhood passed with his father (Robin Grey as she used to call him) and her uncle. An error on her part respecting her uncle's age - he was born 24 Sept. 1759 and consequently was 80 years old. Beneath is a note from Richard Penderel Llewellyn. He hears the addressee is going to publish the prize essay on 'Coelbren y Beirdd': if he does it by subscription he (R. P. Ll.) will be a good subscriber.

Dr Lloyd to Mr T. Williams. Requesting him to return as soon as convenient the letter respecting the Greek which Mr W. promised to transmit without delay to Mr D. Davies, Surgeon, to whom Dr Lloyd will not submit it or not as may seem to him most desirable.
