A file of papers, mainly printed and press cuttings, concerning aspects of the political life of Wales, notably the reform of Welsh local government and proposals for a Welsh Assembly.

Welsh devolution

The file comprises memoranda, circulars, reports, consultation papers concerning Labour Party policies in relation to devolution, the 1997 referendum on a Welsh Assembly and the creation of the Assembly.

Welsh affairs

Many of the papers within the file concern the background to the establishment of the Council for Wales and Monmouthshire in 1948.
