Typescript drafts, [1941x1942], of six poems by Brenda Chamberlain, sent by her to Alun Lewis. Two of the poems, 'Would it not move to pity ...' and 'Dead Ponies', were published in The Dublin Magazine, 16 (July-September 1941), pp. 7-10; the others are apparently unpublished.

The file includes papers relating to the special issue of Poetry Wales, Spring 1975, dedicated to Alun Lewis (1915-1944), poet and short-story writer. Included are letters to Sam Adams from his mother Gwladys E. Lewis, his wife Gweno Lewis, and from Freda Ackroyd and Lord Chalfont, 1974-1975. Also included is an article about Alun Lewis by his sister, Mair, five photographs, and a copy of 'Alun Lewis my Son' by Gwladys E. Lewis (1968).

A ride through the wood

The file mainly comprises typescript drafts, [1977]-1985, of some of the articles which appeared in A ride through the wood : essays on Anglo-Welsh literature, (Bridgend, 1985), including essays on David Jones, Alun Lewis, and Emyr Humphreys. Also included is a reprint of the article 'David Jones - towards the 'holy diversities'' from Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion (1981); and a printed copy of the Annual Gwyn Jones lecture, The lonely editor: a glance at Anglo-Welsh magazines (Cardiff, 1984).
