National Curriculum Subject Files

The series comprises records relating to the consultation process for determining the attainment targets and proposals of study for the national curriculum subjects. Included are reports by the working groups on their respective areas of interest, the published proposals by the Secretaries of State for the curriculum of each subject which preceded the drawing up of the draft orders, the published consultation reports produced by the National Curriculum Council, and the published comments of the Curriculum Council for Wales on these proposals.

The series consists of papers for the first meeting and conference of the Shadow National Curriculum Council, which was held in York on 18-19 July 1988, to consider the responsibilities, remit and administrative structures of the Shadow NCC. The series also includes agenda, minutes and papers of NCC meetings 1 to 23, 1988-1991.

The series comprises minutes and papers of meetings 5-9, including minutes of KS3 Steering Groups and Welsh Subject Group, and other steering groups, and reports on aspects of the curriculum for Wales.

The series comprises correspondence and papers relating to meetings of the Teachers' Association Forum and to consultation seminars concerning the whole curriculum in Wales arranged by the Curriculum Council for Wales, 1988-1990.

The series includes correspondence, 1988-1991, between the National Curriculum Council and other organisations which were concerned with the development of the national curriculum, including the School Examinations and Assessment Council, the Curriculum Council for Wales and the Department of Education and Science. The correspondence relates to every area of curriculum development.
