Letters sent to Roland Mathias, together with a number of draft letters and replies by him; some are also addressed to Molly Mathias. They consist of letters from family and friends, and those which relate to his professional career as teacher and headmaster, including some regarding applications for posts and testimonials by, and for, Roland Mathias. In addition, numerous letters pertain to his literary career, in particular his work with The Anglo-Welsh Review and the Dock Leaves Press (including some statements of income and expenditure and balance sheets of the Dock Leaves Press), and as a member of the Welsh Arts Council and Yr Academi Gymreig.

The series comprises manuscript and typescript copies, proofs, and related papers, [1935x2000] (with gaps), pertaining to works by Roland Mathias, namely poetry, prose works, works edited by him, and other books and periodicals to which he contributed. Also included are copies of a script for a television programme about T. Harri Jones, [1972-1973], together with talks and lectures by Roland Mathias, [1943]-1982 (with gaps).

The series comprises the personal papers of Roland Mathias, 1925-1989 (with gaps), including papers relating to his education, articles about him, copies of curriculum vitae and testimonials, and the honorary degree awarded to him. Also included is a file containing papers, [1930]-1960, relating to his father, the Rev. Evan Mathias.
