Eleven boxes of photographs by D C Harries arranged by subject. These were all prints prepared by D C Harries and show the styles of photography and the presentation of the photographs at the time they were taken. It includes examples of hand tinting from ca.1960. It is possible that the contents of these boxes represent unsold stock from the business.
Manuscripts, [1453x1911], from the library of Sir Evan Davies Jones of Pentower, Fishguard. They comprise a fifteenth-century genealogical chronicle of Welsh and English rulers; an album of watercolour drawings of churches and other notable features of north and mid Wales compiled by the artist David Parkes; transcripts of monumental inscriptions in Tenby parish church; a journal of a tour of Wales, 1836; a volume of music, including works by John Parry ('Y Telynor Dall'); a volume of pedigrees transcribed by Edward Stanton Roberts; and seventeenth century Welsh poetry.
The collection comprises mainly leaflets, correspondence and papers, 1924-1966, relating to Labour politics in the Brecon and Radnor constituency. There are also papers concerning the Labour Party in Wales, 1928-1952; the Parliament for Wales campaign, 1950-1956; Tudor Watkins's visits to Russia in 1961 and to Patagonia in 1965; papers concerning Tudor Watkins's elevation to the House of Lords in 1972; and material deriving from the Brecon and Radnor by-election in 1939.
Photographs relating to the work of Professor Emeritus Martin G Jones (1897-1979). Prof Jones was chair of Agricultural Botany at Kings College Durham, later the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne from 1947 until 1962. These photgraphs encompass his wide range of academic interests, particularly Grasslands.
