Women's Jazz Archive/Women In Jazz

Papers relating to the Women's Jazz Archive oral history project, largely comprising transcribed interviews and correspondence, including material relating to the official opening of the archive on 26 June 1993; material relating to prominent archive contributors Blanche Finlay, Ottilie Patterson and Elaine Delmar; and material relating to the Heritage Lottery Funded project Wales, Slavery and Music - the Unknown Inheritance (for which see also Funding: 2004).

Women's Art in Wales

Material relating to the 1985 Welsh Arts Council touring exhibition Women's Art in Wales. Material comprises letters to Moira Vincentelli from participating artists, who include Mary Lloyd Jones, Claudia Williams and Thalia Campbell; artists' biographical details and details of works to be exhibited; Women's Art in Wales exhibition booklet, together with draft text; other printed exhibition booklets, artists' prints and postcards; rough notes; and other correspondence.

Events and productions

Material other than posters, flyers, tickets, programmes and invitations relating to Equilibre Horse Theatre events and productions. Items include project proposals and outline of productions; reports and retrospectives; potted history; press cuttings; correspondence; and a collection of watercolour sketches by Rosita Sancho, mother of Equilibre co-founder/director Georges Dewez. A folder contains material relating exclusively to the Masked Ball production which took place in 2007.

Pre-1995 political career

Material relating to Don Touhig's political career prior to his 1995 Islwyn by-election victory, both within his south Wales constituency and in his contest of the Richmond and Barnes seat in the 1992 general election, comprising financial statements, speech notes, press releases, correspondence, diaries and printed election flyers.

Opus 1: Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso for String Quintet

Ink score with pencil annotations, dated April-May 1952, titled Opus 1: 'Introduction (Quasi Notturno) and Allegro Scherzoso for String Quintet', based on the Welsh folk melodies ‘Hun Gwenllian’ and ‘Hela’r 'Sgyfarnog’. The score includes parts for violins 1 and 2, viola, and cellos 1 and 2. A title note added indicates that this piece was first performed at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, March 1953, and was awarded a prize at the National Eisteddfod, Aberystwyth, 1952. Dedicated to Grace Williams.

Edited and annotated screenplay by Wayne Parker titled Adulation, together with plot synopses and brief critical evaluations. The storyline centres around a series of murders carried out in New York in the days preceding the death there in 1953 of poet Dylan Thomas.
