Copies and transcripts of letters by W. Llewelyn Williams to various correspondents, 1894-1922, accumulated by Neville C. Masterman, [1970]-[2005]. The file includes letters to his brother, Thomas Williams, John Morris Jones, T. E. Ellis and T. Huws Davies, concerning both personal and professional matters. Some of the Welsh letters have been translated into English. Originals of most of the letters are held at NLW, and in such cases the NLW call numbers of the original letters have been noted on the copies.

Some fifty letters, 1875-1889, to Elias Hughes, Colwyn Bay, co. Denbigh. Many are replies to invitations to preach at Engedi Calvinistic Methodist church, Colwyn Bay, or to preside at local eisteddfodau but also included are two letters (ff. 14, 19) concerning the injuries sustained by Elias Hughes during the tithe disturbance near Mochdre in 1887 (see Report of an inquiry as to disturbances connected with the levying of tithe rent-charge in Wales (1887), p. 102). The file comprises letters in which W. Llewelyn Williams discusses his researches and historical writings, his prospective applications for posts, his editorial and journalistic work, and his political ambitions. There are many references to columns in newspapers and to articles in journals, some of them edited by O. M. Edwards. Several letters refer to the vacancies in the parliamentary representation of Merionethshire following the premature death of Thomas Edward Ellis MP in April 1899 and the subsequent decision of O. M. Edwards to retire in 1900.

The file comprises letters discussing a public meeting at Blaenau Ffestiniog in 1899 (at which O. M. Edwards and William Abraham ['Mabon'] are to speak); plans for a public memorial to Thomas Edward Ellis during 1902; the writer's proposed drafting of a biography of Thomas Edward Ellis; various academic appointments; and literary matters.

Sixty-five holograph and autograph letters and postcards, and telegrams, 1888-1913 and undated, addressed to David Robert Daniel (1859-1931) of Fourcrosses, Chwilog, Caernarvonshire. The writers include a circular, 1904, issued by the North Wales Quarries Ltd; P[eredur] Ll. Daniel, London, his son, undated; [Robert Evans] ('Cybi'), Llangybi, undated; [E.] Vincent Evans, London, 1913?; [Henry] Harold Hughes, Bangor, 1903-06; and The North Wales Quarrymen's Union, Caernarvon, undated. Also included in the group are three holograph letters, 1888-1905, from D. R. Daniel to his wife Sara and to his mother Jane; a holograph letter, undated, from Sara [Daniel] to her mother at Llandderfel; a grand jury summons for the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace for Caernarvonshire, addressed to D. R. Daniel,1905; vouchers, certificates of bank credits, etc. of D. R. Daniel, 1904-13; and other holograph letters which include one to [H. J. Williams] ('Plenydd'), 1890; and a letter, 1898, containing accounts of the North Wales Quarrymen's Union; also verses in Welsh entitled 'The Memorable Temperance Supper Dec. 23rd. 1882'.
