This collection forms one group of the many manuscripts acquired from time to time (together with numerous printed works) from Henry Blackwell, New York (born at Liverpool, 1851, died New York, 1928). This group includes 18th century light remarks and correspondence by a certain S. D. and J. B.; a transcript, in bardic script, of poetry by Gwalchmai, with illustrations by Hugh Maurice; minutes of a New York eisteddfod committee, 1883-1885, and a notebook recording details of the 1886 New York eisteddfod.

The Hugh Roberts of Holywell Manuscripts are a collection of 19th century and early 20th century manuscripts, relating mainly to the Breton and English languages and the Lushai Dialect of Calcutta, and also includes sermons and sermon notes, hymns and poetry.

The fonds consists of a disappointingly small group of miscellaneous papers accumulated by Dr Roderic Bowen during the course of his political career and public life. They include printed matter, 1901-1993, press cuttings, 1906-1992, speech notes, [1950]-[2000], letters, 1955-2001, and pocket diaries, 1985-2000. There are also files of papers relating to the work of the Committee of Inquiry on Bilingual Road Signs in 1972, which he chaired, and to the unsuccessful attempt to secure a knighthood for Dr Bowen in 2000-2001.
