Welsh delegation to Brittany

A collection of papers, 1945-[1950], accumulated by Dyfnallt in relation to the campaign on behalf of Breton nationalists, including papers, March-[?June] 1947, concerning the visit of a delegation from the National Eisteddfod Council, Dyfnallt among them, to Brittany and Paris in April 1947 (ff. 82-121), and including a copy of the first draft of the delegation's report (ff. 107-121).
Also included are manuscript and typescript drafts of various articles on the situation in Brittany (ff. 1, 4-5, 17, 23-30, 32-33, 35-44, 52-54), some in the hand of Paul Quentel (ff. 1, 4-5, 23-30); copies of 'Breton National News Service' newsletters for January and February 1947 (ff. 18-22); a copy of a draft statute for Brittany by the Parti National Breton, dated 10 February 1946 (ff. 8-14); typescript articles on Protestantism in Brittany (ff. 68-72) and the Irish harp (ff. 73-81); and newspaper cuttings, [June 1945]-[May 1947], mostly from various French language newspapers and Y Faner (ff. 122-142), including several articles by Dyfnallt (ff. 124-128, 130, 132, 135).

Welsh campaign

The file consists of miscellaneous papers concerning the Alliance campaign in Wales during 1984. They include numerous press cuttings, press releases, resolutions passed and details of constituency allocations between the two parties in the Alliance.

The file comprises press cuttings accumulated by Dr Roderic Bowen. Some relate to his appointment as a Queen's Counsel in 1952, his appointment as Deputy Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee in 1965 and subsequent defeat as the Liberal candidate for Cardiganshire in the general election of 1966, and his official visit to Aden in 1966.

Poetry and prose compiled at Brogyntyn for an album (cf. Brogyntyn MS I.29), but left unbound. The items, in various hands, are mainly in English but with a few in Latin, Welsh and French, and consist of political, satirical and occasional verse, both published and apparently unpublished (ff. 1-212 verso), together with a few letters (ff. 214-228), miscellaneous prose and commonplace entries (ff. 229-306), and printed material including song-sheets, pamphlets and newspaper cuttings (ff. 307-390). A number of items relate to Brogyntyn or Wynnstay or are addressed to family members.

Personal papers of W. Goscombe John,

Personal and genealogical papers, 1822-1952, of Sir William Goscombe John, together with some genealogical notes, [1970x1990], compiled by a descendant.
They include various certificates, diplomas and passports, 1870-1913; ephemera relating to the unveiling of statues in Liverpool and Cardiff, 1905, 1909; press cuttings, [1889]-1939; and the text of a broadcast tribute to him, 16 December 1952, by Rollo Charles (ff. 63-64). Genealogical papers comprise transcripts and other memoranda, from sources including Wenvoe parish registers, in his own hand, [20 cent, first ½] (ff. 2-6), and in another hand, [1970x1990] (ff. 1, 7-12, 14); the title page of Y Bibl Santaidd (Carmarthen, 1822) containing John family genealogical memoranda, 1823-[1834] (f. 13 recto-verso); and a printed family register for the John family, [19 cent, third ¼] (f. 15).

Newspaper articles

The file consists of articles from American newspapers, covering all aspects of Thoreau's life and activities of the Thoreau Society, some of the more notable topics being the opening of a Thoreau Lyceum, Condry's address to the Society in July 1981, a reprint of a newspaper article which he wrote about Walden and Concord, August 1981, his meeting with Lillian Lund Files, the bluebird expert, the controversial contribution of Don Henley to the Walden Woods Project, the preservation of Thoreau's birthplace, and the death of Walter Harding, founder of the Society.
