The press cuttings are taken from a variety of local and national newspapers, e.g., Monmouthshire Merlin, Merthyr Guardian, Hereford Times, Seren Cymru, Seren Gomer, Illustrated Times, Morning Post, The Times, The Observer, etc., and items of Welsh interest include accounts of coronation festivities at Abergavenny, 1831, and of the loss of the 'Rothsay Castle', 1831; a list of literary and musical competitions arranged by 'Cymreigyddion yr Alarch', Merthyr Tydfil, undated; accounts of the opening of the Crumlin Viaduct, 1857, of the destruction of the South Wales Railway bridge over the river Usk at Newport, 1848, and of the colliery explosion at Risca, 1860; and a mass of poetry by contemporary local bards. NLW MS 12355F contains two engraved portraits of the Reverend Francis Hiley, Llanwenarth, and at the end of the same manuscript are some additional press cuttings mounted by Lady H. A. Robinson, relating largely to the death of King Edward VII. The outside upper covers are labelled respectively 'Caradawc's Scrap Book No. 1' and 'Caradawc's Scrap Book No. 2'.

A volume of poems, 1890-1901, by three 'Rhymers'. It contains poems by A. E. Lomax, L. I. E. P[ughe] and C. E. L[omax], many of them having a Montgomeryshire setting, poems by G. R. G. P[ughe] and Jane Gould Pughe; and a copy of The Church in Wales: A versified review of her reverses by G. R. G. Pughe, vicar of Mellor, Lancashire, 1894.

A commonplace book compiled early in the nineteenth century and containing copies of contemporary English poetry, mainly by Scott, Byron, Campbell, Thomas Moore, and William Roscoe; verses 'inscribed to the worthy inhabitants of Carmarthen' by 'Mr. Davies, Cringell'; a pamphlet, issued by the Financial Reform Association, Liverpool, entitled The Peers' Plunder and the People's Poverty; and cuttings from The Atlanta Argus, 1883, Baner ac Amserau Cymru, 1884, and other sources.

A Llanberis commonplace book,

An album or commonplace book originally kept at the New Inn, Llanberis. It contains a short sketch of the history of Llanberis, a note on John Closs, who died of exposure on Snowdon in 1805, with lines composed on the occasion by P[eter] B[ailey] W[illiams]; a 'Sonnet to Snowdon' by Miss Locke; odes to Snowdon, 1819; a 'Sketch of Snowdon for the benefit of sojourners at Llanberis' by Colonel Bell; a note on Evan Evans ('Ieuan Brydydd Hir') with an elegy by R. Williams of Vron near Mold, 1790; a sonnet by Kirke White; particulars of ashes carted, 1823-1827; and notes of visitors to the Inn, 1819.

An album: 'Y Sidg o Droea',

An album, begun by Sarah Wilson, 1827, containing copies of English poetry by James Montgomery, Felicia Hemans, T. K. Harvey, M. A. Browne, George Crabbe, and others. In 1883, the album was used by Padarn Davies, who copied into it the text of 'y sidg o Droea' with the following colophon: 'Gwallter Archiagon Rhydychain a droes y darn hwn o'r cronicl o Lading i Gymraeg. Ac Edward Kyffin ei ail ysgrifenodd fo i Siôn Trefor Trefalyn ysgwier pan oedd oed Crist 1577. A Dewi Siôn o Dref y rhyw yw'r trydydd ysgrifenydd yn oed ein Iachawdwr 1761, Mai-hafhing 9d. A John Prichard o Lanrwst yw'r Pedwerydd ysgrifenydd yn oed ein Iachawdwr 1775 Hydref y 9d. dydd. Gwaith 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'

A collection by W. J. Roberts of the poetical works of Evan Evans (Ieuan Glan Geirionydd) entitled 'Gemau Glan Geirionydd' (changed to 'Y Geirionydd'; c.f. the printed edition Geirionydd as edited by W. J. Roberts). A table of the poems gives the date of composition of the principal items. The book was later used by W. J. Roberts to record his own compositions: an ode, with translation, being an address of welcome to Earl Carrington and family to Gwydir, 1896; 'Hir a Thoddeidiau' - 'Talhaiarn', 'marwolaeth Eben Fardd', 'Llywyddion Eisteddfod Caernarfon', 1862, 'Y Cae Gwenith', 'Ŷf-golofn Conway Rowley'; 'caneuon' - 'Pont Dolgarrog', 'Caneuon Serch', 'Days Gone by', 'Verses dedicated to --- Miss', 'Gwywiad fy Rhosyn', and 'One Pound and one shilling'; and 'englynion' - 'I'r Mochyn', 'I David Williams ('Alaw Goch')', 'Rhyl fel Ymdrochle', and 'I Weinidog yr Efengyl'.
