'Y Llyfr hir or Mwythig', being a collection of five hundred and sixty-six cywyddau, etc. by various authors arranged into 'books' according to subject. The poems in each 'book' are numbered separately. The poets cited include Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent, Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Bedo Brwynllys and Siôn Phylip. The volume is dated temp. James II (see p. 382). The text is followed by nine folios of index, arranged under authors' names, by Richard Morris. Following the index are three further poems (by Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent and Dafydd ab Edmwnt) in the hand of the Reverend Samuel Williams.
The volume is in the same hand as Llanstephan MSS 47, 48 and the end of 164.

The text at p. 39b is said to be 'copied out of the Chronicle of Guttun Owain'. The text at the end beginning 'Proffwydoliaeth Banastr o Brydain fawr ...' is continued on p. 13 of the manuscript.

A manuscript containing transcripts by David Parry from the Red Book of Hergest, together with other poetry, the volume being compiled before it was given to Jesus College, Oxford in 1701. The contents of the volume are as follows: A Welsh Grammar copied from the Red Book of Hergest (col. 1117), with collations by Samuel Williams from Llanstephan MS 3, p. 472 (original foliation I-Vb, 1-7); a copy of the poetry on cols 1143-1356 of the Red Book of Hergest (original foliation 7-12b, original pagination 13-168, 169-265); followed by sixteen leaves at the end of the manuscript containing poems by Robin Ddu o Fôn, Tudur Aled, Rhys Nanmor and others, together with the pedigree of Sir Rhys ap Thomas.
Samuel Williams has copied a good many of the older material in a modernised orthography on the side left blank by the original copyist. There are also marginalia in the hand of Moses Williams. A note, probably in the hand of Samuel Williams, on p. 265 (original pagination) reads 'All the Poetry collated March 27 . 1722'.

The manuscript is written in three different hands: pp. 1-102 belong to the third quarter of the sixteenth century; pp. 103-130 to the fourth quarter of the sixteenth century; and pp. 131-146 are in the hand of Sir Thomas Wiliems in his earliest style, c. 1576.

A manuscript containing Welsh poetry, including the work of Edmwnd Prys, Sion Brwynog, Guto'r Glyn, Sion Phylip, Sion Tudur, Taliesin, Iolo Goch and others. Pp. 7-58, 61-66, 171-210 are in the hand of Roger Williams, assistant to Bishop William Morgan (1545-1604); pp. 131-137 are in the hand of Dr John David Rhys; and pp. 67-112, 139-152 are in the hand of John Powel of Talgarth, Breconshire (see pp. 67, 139; see also Peniarth MSS 27 and 45). P. 58 contains a note, 1611, in the hand of Roger Williams concerning 'the fees that goeth vpon any person in suinge owt his lyveryes', and on p. 61 is a note, 1617, in the same hand concerning the 'benefactors of the Cathedrall church of Landaphe'. Also included in the manuscript is a sermon 'in praise of theves' (p. 197), triads (pp. 200-201) and medical and veterinary recipes (pp. 199, 210b).

A manuscript, in several hands, containing the poetry of Wmffre Dafydd ab Ifan and others, including Siôn Tudur, Siôn Phylip, Rhys Cain and Dafydd ap Gwilym.
Pp. 1-62 are said to have been written in 1691 by Siôn Rhydderch (John Roderick) of Cemaes (see p. 62); pp. 63-77 are in an earlier hand; and pp. 79-82 are in the hand of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd.

A volume of transcripts of miscellaneous poems in English, Latin, and Welsh. Two volumes of transcripts, [1758], compiled Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd), subsequently bound as one volume. Part I (foliated 1-153) contains 'The Gododin an Heroic poem of the sixth Century transcribed from a Copy of Thomas Wiliams of Trefriw M.D., and the Works of Taliessin from Dr Davies of Mallwyd's hand, and other particulars wrote by the Revd Mr. Evan Evans' (f. 1) and includes transcripts of Llyfr Aneirin (ff. 5 verso-36), Llyfr Taliesin (ff. 37-126) and other manuscripts.
Part II (foliated 1-73) contains further poetry, by poets including Llywarch Hen, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ab Edmwnd and Gutun Owain (ff. 1-28, 34 verso-47); notes on Welsh orthography (following the cywydd beginning at f. 19); a list of poets from a manuscript of Dr John Davies (f. 39 verso); a copy of Sir Thomas Wiliems's Preface to his Latin-Welsh Dictionary (ff. 48-64); a letter, dated 26 January 1757, from Lewis Morris to 'Mr. Vaughan of Corsygedol' (ff. 65-69); a letter, dated 14 June 1755, from Richard Morris to the same Mr Vaughan, enclosing a copy of the Transactions of the Society of Cymmrodorion and referring to Lewis Morris and to Goronwy Owen (ff. 70-71); and a table of contents for Part I only, [?in the hand of Owain Myfyr] (f. 72).

A manuscript in the hand of Evan Evans containing poetry mostly derived, indirectly, from the Black Book of Carmarthen (Peniarth MS 1) and the Red Book of Hergest (Oxford, Jesus College MS 111). A table of contents, in a later hand, is on pp. 179-180.
This transcript was adopted by the editors of the Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales for their text or for their notes.

A composite manuscript lettered 'BARDDONIAETH &c.' on the spine. The volume, which contains 'englynion', 'carolau' and pedigrees, is written for the most part (ff. 1-52 verso and 75 verso-101 verso) by Wiliam Dafydd Llywelyn of Llangynidr (c. 1520-1606) (cf. NLW MS 15542B). Another hand is responsible for ff. 53- 75, but Wiliam Dafydd Llywelyn appears to have annotated this middle section. Folio 6 verso carries an eighteenth century list of payments, and folio 7 verso is blank. The contents are: ff. 1-2 verso, part of the story of 'Trystan ac Esyllt' (cf. (Mwythig, 1710), pp. 59-80, on ff- 3 recto and 7 recto; 'Iolo Morganwg' dates his 'Rhagysbysiad' on f. 2 recto as follows: 'Trefflemin ym Morganwg Chwefror yr ail, 1806', and a note on f. 1 recto, 'For Mr. Wm. The work was awarded the prize and a gold medal at the National Eisteddfod at Carmarthen, 1867.
