A farewell address, dated 15 September 1917, written by J. Edwal Williams, headmaster of Brynconin School, Llandissilio, Pembrokeshire, to pupils entering the County School at Narberth.
Williams's son, the poet Waldo Williams, was then twelve years of age and was possibly one of the pupils being addressed.

The subject matter reflects both his work in colonial administration and politics, and his personal interest in fine art, galleries and museums.
