Miscellaneous papers of, or relating to, Idris Davies. They include a draft poem, [c. 1945], by Idris Davies; comments by him, dated November 1936, on A. E. Housman, More Poems (London, 1936); and a typescript radio talk, entitled 'The valleys revisited', broadcast 1943. Also included is a postcard from Idris Davies, 1935, two letters to him, 1952 and 1956, and twenty-six letters relating to him, 1954-1983, addressed to the Rev. Islwyn Jenkins, Carmarthen, and including letters from T. S. Eliot, 1955 (f. 23), Glyn Jones, 1954-1968 (ff. 30-33 verso), and Vernon Watkins, 1956 (f. 50).

The file comprises twenty-four letters from T. S. Eliot to David Jones, 1943-1961, relating to the preparation of The Anathemata for publication including a draft blurb, with also references to In Parenthesis, 'Art in relation to war and our present situation', and to 'The Cultivation of Christmas trees' by T. S. Eliot.

The file comprises papers relating to payments to David Jones from the Bollingen foundation, including a copy of a letter from Stephen Spender, 1959, backing his application, copies of letters from Sir Herbert Read, 1962, and T. S. Eliot, 1963, to support remission of income tax, and a few letters from Ethel Watts, David Jones' accountant. Documents arising from an appeal against a tax payment include a copy of the Bollinger application form with information provided by David Jones about his own personal history, academic background, membership of societies, awards received, and a description of his intended project.

The file comprises a page proof and the typescript corrected by David Jones of 'A Note of Introduction' by T. S. Eliot.
