Correspondence, 1970-1977, accumulated by Meic Stephens in the course of editing Artists in Wales, volumes 1-3 (Llandysul, 1971-1977), from artists in the fields of literature, drama, music and the visual arts; letters, 1977-1978, from poets invited to contribute to Green Horse : an anthology by young poets of Wales edited by him (Swansea, 1978); letters, 1978-1979, relating to The Welsh Language Today (second edition, Llandysul, 1979); and correspondence, 1986-1987, between Meic Stephens and Lady Amy Parry-Williams relating to the former's translations into English of essays by T. H. Parry-Williams, published in The White Stone - six essays by T. H. Parry-Williams (Llandysul, 1987).

Six letters and cards, [c. 1950]-1971, from Brenda Chamberlain to the Rev. Michael Reakes-Williams, containing personal news (ff. 2-6, 10 verso-13); together with two to him from Alan Clodd of the Enitharmon Press, 1972 (ff. 15-16), and one each from Peter Jones and Meic Stephens of the Welsh Arts Council, 1972 (ff. 17-18), all concerning Chamberlain.
Included in the Chamberlain letters are ink sketches relating to a visit to Schleswig-Holstein, West Germany, in 1958 (f. 4 recto-verso), a typescript poem commissioned by the Welsh Arts Council, 1971 (ff. 12-13), and greetings cards designed by her (ff. 2-3, 5-6). Also included are a pen and ink sketch of a woman on horseback, [?1949], and a pen and watercolour drawing of a fish, 1949, both by Chamberlain (f. 1 recto-verso); a programme for a dance recital at the Lamda Theatre Club, [?1964] (ff. 7-10); and a copy letter, 16 January 1959, from Reakes-Williams to a Mrs Armstrong on behalf of Chamberlain (f. 14).

A letter, 26 May 1970, from Kyffin Williams, [London], to Meic Stephens, [Literature Director of the Welsh Arts Council], attempting to secure financial support to publish his book on his 1968-1969 visit to Patagonia.
The book remained unpublished, although parts of it appeared as 'An Artist in Welsh Patagonia', in The Anglo-Welsh Review, 18.42 (February 1970), 5-32, or would be adapted for his book A Wider Sky (Llandysul, 1991). The letter contains references to Christopher Falkus of prospective publishers Weidenfeld [& Nicolson].

The file comprises mainly of correspondence, 1968-1969, relating to the preliminary meeting and other early meetings of the English Language Section of the Academi. The preliminary meeting was arranged by Meic Stephens and the file includes invitations sent out by him, letters of reply, and letters commenting on this first meeting. The file also includes letters inviting writers to become members of the Academi, their replies and lists of those writers who have accepted or declined membership. There are a few references to discussions about the establishment of a new English language literary magazine, an idea which was rejected for the time being.
