The file contains letters, 1891-1918, mainly personal and amicable. Evans discusses his own activities and those of O. M. Edwards. There are numerous references to Evans's researches and writings, and some to political life. There is also some discussion of Edwards's writing and editorial work, with some family and domestic news.

Another copy of W. W. E. Wynne's 'Catalogue of the Hengwrt MSS at Peniarth' (see Peniarth MS 554), with the revised Peniarth manuscript numbers written in the margins and some additional entries by J. Gwenogvryn Evans, 1861-1902.

Gwenogvryn Evans's revised Peniarth manuscript numbers and with valuations of the manuscripts.

The letters, 1894-1913, refer to the writer's academic work, researches and publications on the Welsh manuscripts. He refers to his research trips to a number of libraries and archival repositories. There are also a few passing references to contemporary events in Wales and to developments at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Eleven letters, May 1892, to T. E. Ellis, MP, concerning the accuracy of Welsh place names on Ordnance Survey maps and the submission of evidence to the Departmental Committee on the Ordnance Survey.
