J. Glan y Gors a Daniel Davies o Gorwen y ngylch Tref Lundain' (ff. 10-12 verso) was published in the pamphlet Dwy o Gerddi Newyddion ([Chester]: Thomas Huxley, [?1791]) (JHD 209bii; not recorded in ESTC). A note on f. 8 states that 'Cerdd yn dangos meddyliau Morwyn Ieuangc ddydd ei phriodas' (ff. 8-10) was published in London in 1797 but there are no known copies extant. A further poem [?in a different hand] is on ff. 128 verso-129. Items found loose at the beginning of the volume have been tipped in on ff. i-iv; these include a list of contents of the manuscript (f. i), a printed elegy for William Owen Pughe by John Jones (Tegid), 1836 (f. iii), and a series of englynion by Siôn ap Morgan (f. iv).

Among them are elegies on the death of David Griffiths, vicar of Nevern; 'Pennillion a gyfansoddwyd i Mr. James Evans, o'r Cilau, ger Abergwaen, swydd Penfro, y dydd y canodd yn iach a Choleg Dewi Sant, Llanbedr Pont Stephan' by Tegid, 1844; an englyn by Tegid to Mary Evans, Ciliau-wen; 'Marwnad Morwr sef; mab Dafydd Salmon, o'r Llysdin, Nanhyfer'; verses written by 'Mr. Harries Landisilo' for B[ridget] Evans [Cilau-wen]; 'A Specimen of Welsh Preaching'; 'Prince Eugene's Prayer, which all the Officers of the Duke of Marlborough's Army knew by Heart or Memory'; press cuttings containing elegies on the death of Lieut.-General Sir Thomas Picton, etc.; Can, am hanes pechod, yr hwn yw colyn angau by Dafydd (David) William, Llandeilo-fach, Glamorgan; an account of monies paid to masons at Cilau-wen, 1840-1843; etc.

'Pedeir Ceinc y Mabinogi', 'Chwedlau y Saith Doeth', 'Breuddwyd Ronabwy', 'Iarlles y Ffynnawn', 'Cyfranc Lludd a Llevelys', 'Breuddwyd Maxen Wledig', 'Ystori Geraint ab Erbin', 'Ystori Culwch ac Olwen', and 'Cedgymdeithas Amlyn ac Amic', transcribed, 1815-17, from 'Llyfr Coch Hergest' by John Jones ('Tegid') for 'Serj t.-Bosanquet', afterwards Sir John Bernard Bosanquet, with a list of the contents of 'Llyfr Coch Hergest'.

Letters of John Jones (Tegid)

A volume made up of fourteen letters, 1819-1851, from John Jones (Tegid or Ioan Tegid, 1792-1852), Oxford and later Nevern, to various correspondents. The details are as follows: six letters, 1819-1826, to the Rev. Thomas Richards, Berriew (the education of the addressee's brother and of E. Evans [probably 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], a 'cywydd' on the death of Mrs Bosanquet, literary matters, adverse criticism from the bishop of Llandaff [William van Mildert] of a proof-sheet of the edition of the Welsh Prayer Book which the writer had undertaken to superintend); four letters, 1820-1824, to the Rev. David Richards, Llansilin (the education of the addressee's younger brother [Lewis], literary matters, the addressee's marriage, etc.); one letter, 1839, to Miss Angharad Lloyd [sic] (the Liber Landavensis is now in the press, he has completed his Welsh version of Isaiah direct from the Hebrew); one letter, 1846, to Owen Williams, Waenfawr (literary matters, criticism of the addressee's proposed 'Vocabulary'); one letter, 1851, to [Ebenezer Thomas] Eben Fardd (re. adjudicating the 'pryddestau' on 'Golygfa Moses &c'); and one letter, 1850, to the Rev. Richard Richards [Meifod] (he is glad to hear of the addressee's success, a proposed monument to Bishop William Morgan and the Rev. Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) at Llanrhaiadr yn Mochnant, plans for a commentary in Welsh on the Epistle to the Galatians etc.). Also included in the volume are extracts, 1845, from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh 'o'r Graienyn ger y Bala' ('Brawd Nain Ioan Tegid o du ei fam oedd Rowland Hugh'), transcripts of two letters, the originals of which are to be found in Peniarth MS 11, viz. a letter, 1847, from [John Jones] Tegid, Nevern to the Lady Charlotte E. Guest and a letter, 1860, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil to W. W. E. Wynne, Esq., and an outline of 'Tegid's Feet [shoes] drawn at the Vicarage Darowen at the request of ?M. D. Jones, Darowen, 1836'.

Four letters, mostly in English, May-October 1831, May 1834, from John Jones (Tegid), Oxford, to Henry Jones, Merthyr Tydfil, mainly concerning Tegid's dispute with William Bruce Knight on the proposed reform of Welsh orthography (see W. B. Knight, Remarks, Historical and Philological, on the Welsh Language (Cardiff, 1830) and John Jones, Reply to the Rev. W. B. Knight's 'Remarks' on Welsh Orthography (Cardiff, 1831)).
Tegid quotes excerpts from letters of support received from Aneurin Owen (f. 1 verso), the Rev. Walter Cecil Davies (f. 2), George Phillips, BA, (f. 2) and Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) (f. 5). Also included are holograph poems, in Welsh (ff. 5 verso-6, 7, 10), including 'Merch ieuanc mewn darvodedigaeth', 1833 (f. 7), which was published in the Cambrian Quarterly Magazine and Celtic Repertory, 5 (1833), 56.

The texts were first published in The Mabinogion… Part V: The Dream of Rhonabwy and the Tale of Pwyll Prince of Dyved (London and Llandovery, 1843).
