Holograph letters from [the Rev.] Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) to Daniel Jones, Wrexham, 182[ ]-1825 (2) (points relating to the publishing of the writer's two-volume edition [?of the poetical works of Huw Morus, viz. Eos Ceiriog, sef Casgliad o Ber Ganiadau Huw Morus . . . (Yn Ngwrecsam, 1823)], the writer's doubts as to the wisdom of publishing an unrevised edition of the metrical psalms of Edmwnd Prys, a suggestion that opinions on this point be sought through the columns of Y Gwyliedydd, criticisms that some of Prys's lines were stiff ('anystwyth hynod') and did not lend themselves to any measure, references to Titus Lewis's edition of Prys's psalms [Pigion o Salmau Canu yn ôl cyfansoddiad Edmwnd Prys (Caerfyrddin, 1810)], the belief that Lewis had introduced some changes into some of the psalms), and [John] Painter [printer, Wrexham], 1821-1825 (2) (points relating to the publishing of vol. II of [Huw] Morus's work, comments on the proposal to publish Edmund Prys's psalms (in the same vein as in the letter to Daniel Jones), the sale of copies of the edition of Huw Morus's work).

Rees, Cascob Rectory, Presteigne, to Lady Guest, 3 January 1843, informing her of the existence of a copy of the Greal at Hengwrt (ff. 3-4), and 8 April 1843, forwarding information concerning the Greal, which accompanies the letter (ff. 7-9); letters from the Rev. T. Price (Carnhuanawc), Y Persondy, to Lady Guest, 7 January 1843, concerning his 'Quest of Charlemagne', with 'Notes for the Opening Note to Taliesin' (f. 5), 13 March 1843, containing criticism of her treatment of the 'Tair Gormes' and references to translations and proof-reading (f. 6), 6 May 1843, enclosing the M. Owen of Clenennau and Brogyntyn,

Genealogical papers relating to the Owen family of Clenennau and Brogyntyn, which include a memorial inscription to Sir John and Dame Jonet Owen [at Penmorfa] commissioned under the terms of Ellen Owen's will [1702]; copies of monumental inscriptions, baptisms and burial records of Catherine Owen (nee Anwyl) of Llanddyn (d. 1685) and several of her children at Llangollen; and a copy of an inscription to John, infant son of Sir Robert Owen at Llanfihangel-y-traethau. The file also contains 'Deductions of Genealogies and Heraldry' by Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'), dedicated to John Owen of Penrhos by the author [pre-1823], showing the ancient lineage of the Owens of Penrhos and including the trial of their ancestor, Sir John Owen of Clenennau; a letter to Mary Jane Ormsby concerning the fate of Arthur Owen and heraldry of the Maurice family among other topics, 1811; pedigrees showing the marriages of Sir William Maurice and the family of John ap Meredydd; and extracts from papers of W.W.E. Wynne at Peniarth, relating to the history of Brogyntyn house and the Lacon family, 1879, 1882.
