Church properties and lands

Papers relating to various church properties and lands, mainly regarding the sale and purchase of vicarages, schools and land, and the upkeep and repair of church properties, 1952-1953.

Clergy enquiries

Papers relating to the administration of the appointment of various members of clergy and to an enquiry regarding the payment of an endowment to the incumbent of Rhoscolyn; together with a list of Cathedral Officials and the death certificate of Charles Alfred Howell Green, Archbishop of Wales and Bishop of Bangor, 1952-1953.

Site for house for the Lord Bishop

Correspondence and papers relating to the purchase of land for a proposed new residence for the Bishop. The papers include, a map showing Roman Camp extension, 13 June 1939; correspondence concerning the purchase of land from the Penrhyn Estate for a new residence for the Bishop, and the sale of the old Llys Esgob, Menai Bridge, 1961; correspondence and papers from the Penrhyn estate to the Representative Body of the Church in Wales (RB), 1961-1963 relating to the purchase of land at Upper Garth Road from the Penrhyn Estate, and land belonging to 'Anneddle' by the RB; the papers include copies of contract, conditions of sale, conveyances (including a draft conveyance of the property known as Anneddle, by Lord Penrhyn, to the present owner, 31 Oct. 1932), maps and plans; correspondence and copies of legal documents relating to the sale of land at Anneddle and Isallt, Upper Garth Road, 1963-1964; correspondence from Lord Penrhyn to the Bangor Corporation regarding Bangor open spaces, 1934-1960 including correspondence, maps, draft leases, and draft contracts relating to the purchase of public open spaces by the Bangor Corporation, 1934-1947. The lands in question include 'Camp Hill', 'Garth Point', 'Cliff Cottage', 'Siliwen', and Bangor Mountain etc. The papers were used in relation to the purchase of land for the new Bishop's residence.

Anglesey County Water Scheme - contracts nos 26A & 27

Correspondence and papers, including legal documents and plans, relating to laying water pipes under a strip of land belonging to Owen Jones and Mary Jones, parish of Llanfachreth presumably to provide water for Llanfachreth Rectory, 1955 and under land belonging to Mr G. W. Grove-White in the parish of Llanfechell, 1959.

Trawsfynydd Tŷ Plwyf

Papers relating to the proposed demolition of Tŷ Plwyf, and problems regarding tenancy, 1958-1963. The folder also includes a photostat copy of a report on the charities of Trawsfynydd, with plan, 1894.

Closure of churches

Correspondence relating to the closure of churches in the diocese, 1975-1987. The folders contain photocopies of numerous documents, including several decrees used as examples, and referred to in the correspondence.

Fairbourne Parsonage

Correspondence concerning the inclusion of the parsonage under the dilapidations scheme, and subsequent discussions over conveyance to the RB, 1952-1955. The folder also includes a copy of The London Gazette, 21 July 1914, presumably kept for the article it contains regarding the creation of the consolidated Chapelry of Saint Catherine, Arthog.
