Licences to lay readers

Papers relating to the granting of licences to lay readers, including licences, oaths, nominations, and correspondence, together with papers relating to the cancelling of licences, 1929-1969.

The folder mainly consists of a notice of resignation and correspondence relating to the resignation of the curate of Llanidan cum Llanddaniel cum Llanedwen, Anglesey, 1939.

Appointment of Bishop of Bangor - Canon Gwilym Owen Williams

Correspondence and papers relating to the preparations and arrangements for the enthronement of Canon Gwilym Owen Williams as Bishop of Bangor, 1957. Includes copies of the orders of service of the enthronements of David Edwards Davies, 1944, and John Charles, as Bishops of Bangor, 1949, a bilingual order of service for the consecration of Gwilym Owen Williams, Bishop of Bangor, at Llandaff, 1 May 1957; two printed bilingual orders of service for the induction and installation at Bangor Cathedral, 7 May 1957 (one annotated); a mandate for enthronement of The Right Reverend Gwilym Owen Williams, 1957, along with a copy of the mandate for enthronement of the Revd John Charles Jones, as Bishop of Bangor, 8 January 1949. The folder also contains correspondence with the Representative Body, with regard to the travelling expenses of the Chancellor of the diocese and relating to a new seal for the Bishop, and the possibility of a new seal for Rev Canon Gwynfryn Richards as Archdeacon of Bangor, 1957.

Appointment of Lord Bishop of Bangor

Correspondence concerning the preparations of the enthronement of the new Lord Bishop of Bangor, 27th January 1949 (John Charles Jones), 1948-1949 and includes an order of service. The folder also includes a Commission of Sir Ernest Handforth Goodman Roberts to act as Vicar General and Official Principal in the See of Bangor, 1 Nov. 1948 (with copy); papers relating to the appointment of The Very Reverend John Thomas Davies, Dean of Bangor, Commissary Sede Vacante of the Diocese of Bangor and President of the Diocesan Conference and of the Patronage Board of the Diocese of Bangor, 1948; and a Bangor Diocesan special account bankbook, 1948-1950. The account was set up for the expense of furnishing the 'Bishops' Court'.
