Tho[mas] Wills, Corke, to Humfrey Owen, esq. the Iland, Kerry,

Has Owen's answer to his requesting Owen to get licence of the priest for Florand Carthy. Is innocent of several things in Owen's letter of the 19th current. Did not know of Flor. Carthy's second time going to Kerry or Corrimore. His cousin Evans has a great kindness for him [?Carthy]. Did not drive or was not 'nye' any cattle on Corrymore and the priest is a liar that told Olden so. His arrears of rent.

Thomas Thorp, Cirencester, to Viscount Clive,

He hopes that his lordship has now received his letter and the petition. His lordship's news is most cheering. He wishes he had had his lordship's letter last night. The best way by far is for Lord Powis to write to the Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol. He will do what he can.

Thomas Smith, Minera, to the Earl of Powis, Albemarle Street, London,

As to the affair in Scotland: a number of gentlemen join to make a large deposit to carry on mines there and the mine at Leadhills it is said cleared £30,000 in twelve months. If true his proposal will not be complied with. As to the mine at Llangynog, he has made a beginning. Expects that 'our' money was well laid out if present output continues.
