Chirbury court baron rolls and papers

The extant records and papers relating to the Court baron are arranged in two sub-series (i) Court baron court rolls, 1373-1827, and (ii) Court baron papers, 1597-1795. The chronological list of the extant proceedings of the Court baron has been compiled from the following sources:. (1) Court leet rolls (1373-1540). (2) Court rolls (temp. Eliz.) and court books (temp. 1-4 Chas I, and 1728-1777. (3) Estreats [court rolls] 1600-1660 - a very full and elaborate series. (4) Bailiffs' accounts of fines and amercements. Miscellanea. (5) References to papers recording 'The issues of pleas in the court baron' which are occasionally included in the files of declarations, etc., scheduled in section II, have not been included. NB: Nine items found loose in the box are contained in an envelope.

Borough of Llanfyllin Quarter Sessions

In addition to the occasional Quarter Session records (some only nominal) filed in the leet proceedings and appearing inter alia in the estreats of the leet courts of the manor or borough, are the following separate records and papers relating to the Quarter Session held before the bailiffs, as authorized by Llanfyllin's charter:oath rolls, 1703-1754 (MA 646-653), files and isolated papers, 1710-1820 (MA 654-670), and sacrament certificates, 1677-1761 (MA 671-673).

Rentals, Shropshire, Radnorshire, Montgomeryshire,

Rents in Walcot, Oakley Park, Montford and Ruyton estates, in Shropshire, Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire. The Oakley Park estate is omitted from RM29 onwards, and the Ruyton estate is omitted in the duplicate volumes RM8x, RM11x, RM13x, RM14x, RM15x, RM16x, RM17x, RM20x, 11M21x, RM22x, RM23x, RM28x, and from RM56 onwards. The following additions occur: the Alderton estate in p. Great Ness (t. Alderton) in RM5-8; the Little Brompton estate in p. Hopesay (t. Little Brompton), p. Clunbury (t's Edgton and Kempton) in RM8-13; the Stonehouse estate in p. Stokesay (t. Aldon), p. Stanton Lacy (t. West Hamlet) and Clee Hill leasehold in RM29-61, estate in p's Clunton, Clun, Mainstone, and Bishop's Castle in RM35-61; estate in Munslow in RM45-78; estate in Clee Hill in RM48-78; the Stych estate in p. Moreton Say (t. Stych) and p. Drayton (t. Longslow) in RM64-140; a house in p. St George's, Hanover Square, Middlesex, from RM64 onwards; estates in p. Clun (t's Bicton and Weston, Whitcot-Keyset, Clun, Newcastle), p. Mainstone (t's Knuck Shadwall and Mainstone), p. Betws-y-crwyn (t. Cefncelynnog), p. Bishop's Castle, p. Baschurch (t. Little Ness) in RM67-9, then incorporated in the settled estate. From RM70 onwards, two estates are transferred to series RM from series RL, namely an estate in Bishop's Castle which is added to the Walcot estate, and the Ludlow estate. From RM95 onwards are included the tithe rents in p's Clun, Clunbury, Bishop's Castle, Llanfair Waterdine, Lydbury North, Montford, burgage and fee farm rents of the borough of Clun, chief and fee farm rents of several manors of the Five Towns in the Honour of Clun in p. Clun (t's Newcastle, Shadwall, Whitcot-Keyset), Betws-y-crwyn (t. Cefncelynnog), chief and fee farm, meal and trewithpint rents of the manor of Tempsiter in the Honour of Clun in p's Mainstone (t's Edenhope and Reilth), Clun (t's Hobbaris, Hobendrid, Menutton, Pentryhodry, Spoad, Treverward), Betws-y-crwyn (t's Menethesney, Selley, Skyborrah), Stow (t. Lurkinghope), Clunbury (t. Obley), Chief and fee farm rents of the Five Towns inthe hundred of Purslow in p's Hopesay (t's Aston and Broom), Clunbury (t. Clunton), chief, burgage, and copyhold rents of the manor of Bishop's Castle, Sadley, and Astwood, in the borough of Bishop's Castle (t's Broughton, Colebatch, and Lea), Lydbury (t's Brockton and Lydbury North) and Norbury (t's Asterton and Hardwick). Collection is for one year due Lady Day unless stated otherwise.

Rentals, combined Montgomeryshire, Shropshire and Middlesex,

From 1928 onwards, series RL and RM are combined, and contain rents in the manors of Llannerch Hudol, Teirtref, Tirymynech, Ystrad Marchell, Caereinion Uwchcoed, Caereinion Iscoed, Mechain Uwchcoed, Mochnant, Llanwddyn, Halcetor, Bishop's Teirtref, Oswestry, Duparts, and in the borough of Pool, and the Lymore estate, from series RL; and rents in the Walcot, Montford, and Ludlow estates, and a house in p. St George's, Hanover Square, Middlesex, from series RM. From RN7 onwards, the house in p. St George's, Hanover Square, Middlesex, is omitted. Collection is yearly, due Michaelmas.

Rentals, Lymore and other Montgomeryshire estates,

The Montgomery Collection (Lymore estate) in p's Montgomery, Chirbury, Churchstoke, Llandysul, Llanmerewig, and Berriw, co. Mont., together with the lately acquired estates of Heightley and Rockley in p's Chirbury and Kerry. Collection is half-yearly unless stated otherwise. Rental for the Montgomery Collection for Lady Day 1778 is incorporated in RE54. For stray rentals in series RI, see Deeds, documents and legal papers (1933-1947 deposits).

Montgomeryshire lordship rentals

Rents in the lordships of Llannerch Hudol, Teirtref, Tirymynech, and Ystrad Marchell. RD1 includes one year's chief rent for the lordship of Ystrad Marchell, three years' chief rents for the lordships of Llannerch Hudol, Teirtref, and Tirymynech, and three years' burgage rents for Pool Town, all due Michaelmas 1753. RD4 contains arrears outstanding Lady Day 1755. RD5 includes two years' chief rents for the said lordships and two years' burgage rents for Pool Town due Michaelmas 1755. RD6 includes one year's chief rents for the said manors and one year's burgage rents for Pool Town due Michaelmas 1756.

Shropshire lordship rentals

Rents in the lordships of Oswestry, Duparts and Trayan, Shropshire. This collection was unaltered by the 1762 re-arrangement. RE 54 contains also the Montgomery Collection in p's Montgomery, Chirbury, Churchstoke, Llandysul, Llanmerewig, and Berriw, co. Mont. (see series RI). Collection (1762-1778) is half-yearly, due Lady Day and Michaelmas unless stated otherwise.
