Chirbury court baron rolls and papers
The extant records and papers relating to the Court baron are arranged in two sub-series (i) Court baron court rolls, 1373-1827, and (ii) Court baron papers, 1597-1795. The chronological list of the extant proceedings of the Court baron has been compiled from the following sources:. (1) Court leet rolls (1373-1540). (2) Court rolls (temp. Eliz.) and court books (temp. 1-4 Chas I, and 1728-1777. (3) Estreats [court rolls] 1600-1660 - a very full and elaborate series. (4) Bailiffs' accounts of fines and amercements. Miscellanea. (5) References to papers recording 'The issues of pleas in the court baron' which are occasionally included in the files of declarations, etc., scheduled in section II, have not been included. NB: Nine items found loose in the box are contained in an envelope.
