The Welsh Quoits Archive, comprising material relating to British quoiting, the majority of the material relating to quoiting in Wales, including: match programmes, posters and flyers, match listings and statistics; rules and regulations of quoiting; press cuttings relating to quoiting matches, quoiting clubs and club members; newsletters; correspondence between quoiting clubs, between individual club members and between clubs and members of the public; items relating to notable quoiting club occasions such as centenaries and anniversaries; and miscellaneous material relating to quoiting, including information relating to the history of the game. The bulk of the material relates to quoiting in Wales, mainly involving international matches (the majority of which were against Scotland) played on Welsh soil. One particularly notable item is a copy of a printed booklet titled The History of Quoits in Wales by Albert Baker (published by J. R. Davies in 1949), which is enclosed with a letter, 14 December 2000, to Linda Evans, Joint Secretary of the Welsh Quoiting Board, from Darryl Baker, grandson of the author (see under heading Quoiting: Wales: Correspondence: Letters to Linda Evans).

Wales v Scotland

Souvenir match programmes, 1948, 1954, 1956, 1979, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, of international quoits matches played between Wales and Scotland on Welsh ground. All items annotated; programme dated 25 July 1987 signed 'B. S. Jones' on front cover. Programme dated 28 July 2007 includes attached paper bearing photocopied photographs of public figures, some with names added by hand.

Scotland v Wales

Souvenir match programmes, 1947, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, of international quoits matches played between Scotland and Wales on Scottish ground. All items annotated (two copies of programme dated 27 July 2002 retained due to discrepancies in (handwritten) score record). Programme dated 27 July 1996 includes attached handwritten list of team players and invoice for players' kit. Programme dated 30 July 1994 includes attached raffle ticket.

Scotland v England

Souvenir match programmes, 1933, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1960, 1962, 1964, of international quoits matches played between Scotland and England on Scottish ground. All items annotated. Programme dated 8 July 1933 appears to comprise of one folio only (see note on physical condition of item below). Programme dated 13 June 1964 appears to be a photocopy of the original.

Welsh Quoiting Board rules and regulations, the earliest undated but possibly of 1920s or 1930s provenance and the latest dated item having been revised in 2001. Also included is a copy of the 'revised rules' of the South Wales Quoiting Association, dated 1925, which is signed on front cover 'Robert Davies'.

This section of the archive is partially sub-divided into material relating to quoiting in Montgomeryshire, which includes Caersws Quoiting Club, and to Llanarthney Quoiting Club, Carmarthenshire.
