Genealogy of Caryl Roese

Genealogical notes on the family of Caryl Roese collected by her husband Herbert E. Roese, including genealogical tables and copies of birth and marriage certificates. Also included is a copy of The Picture Post, 3 July 1943, comprising an article, ‘A Welsh village makes a film in honour of Czech Lidice’ relating to the film 'The silent village' which was filmed in the village of Cwmgiedd, including a photograph of Caryl [Roberts] and her parents during the filming. Also included is a copy of Noel Joseph, The Silent Village. A story of Wales - and Lidice (1943). This includes two photographs of David (Dai) Roberts, Caryl Roese's father.

The papers comprise copies of the articles published in journals such as Brycheiniog and The Bulletin of the Board of Celtic Studies, together with associated correspondence, 1977-2007.

Scrapbook, 1940-1980, relating to her musical experiences as a child in eisteddfodau, including eisteddfod ribbons and later as an adjudicator; television and radio work; concert programmes; as a student at The Royal Academy of Music; her experiences as a music lecturer in South Africa; photographs and letters; and as a teacher in London and lecturer at The City of Cardiff College of Education.

Scrapbook, 1980-2016, relating to Caryl Roese’s work as a lecturer at The South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education at Cyncoed (UWIC), as a regular eisteddfod adjudicator and a conductor of Llantrisant Male Voice Choir, together with her other interests in art and design.
