Records of Management Committee meetings

Records of Aberystwyth Women's Aid Management Committee meetings, 1986-2000, divided into two boxes (1986-1996 and 1997-2000), together with general material relating to meetings, the latter kept in marked envelope.

One item included with the 16 July 1998 meeting records relates to Erin Pizzey, founder of the first shelters for abused women in and around London, who later significantly modified her views on domestic violence and became an advocate for men's rights.

Publicity and media

Material relating to publicity and the media as it relates to Welsh Women's Aid, including Publicity Strategy Team records (kept in separate envelope); press releases; correspondence, largely with newspapers and television companies; press cuttings (kept in separate envelope); and guidelines on public speaking and how to deal with the media. 'Promoting Health and Wellbeing' / 'Well Being in Wales'

Welsh Women's Aid's responses to draft papers produced March 2000 and [2002] by the National Assembly for Wales titled, respectively, 'Promoting Health and Wellbeing: A Consultation Document' and 'Well Being in Wales'. Welsh Women's Aid's responses seek to add to and amend information given in the draft papers by detailing the health needs of women and children in Wales who experience domestic abuse.

Oaklands Women's Centre

Material relating to Oaklands Women's Centre, situated in Glasbury, Herefordshire, which was given to Welsh Women's Aid as a respite centre for women and their children living in refuges in Wales. Items include legal documents regarding the handing over of the property to Welsh Women's Aid; constitution of Oaklands Women's Centre; draft advertisements for job vacancies relating to the project; and records of meetings discussing Oaklands Women's Centre.
