Newfoundland Correspondence

Series contains files of correspondence related to Gordon MacDonald's role as Governor of Newfoundland including letters of congratulation on his appointment and wishing him well on his departure along with correspondence between St Johns and the Department of Commonwealth Relations, correspondence related to the the League for Responsible Government, the delegation to complete the terms of confederation with Canada and the publication of his speeches as 'We Love Thee Newfoundland'.

File contains papers related to the Australian trade mission including some notes, receipts and information related to a defective car as well as a tax document detailing MacDonald's over/underpayments.

South East Asia Development

The file comprises material related to south and south east Asia development and the delegation to the British Commonwealth Consultative Committee in May 1950 to Australia led by Lord MacDonald.
