Lists of 'gled', 'kit' and 'puttock' placenames from the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 Gazetteer, 4th ed., 1999; lists of latest breeding record or presence by county, statements on the distribution of kites in British bird books published at least 1802-1959; extracts relating to kites from county histories, faunas and ornithologies, including the 'Victoria County History' for England and the 'Old' and 'New Statistical Accounts' for Scotland. Also several references to kites in archaeological sites and churchwardens' accounts.

Kite population charts,

Original file of population charts, being records of kites (breeding pair, number of young reared, settled non-breeders, and other birds in the area) for each home range in April, 1946-1993. The charts are arranged by river catchment area: I (Dyfi catchment northward), II (Stewi, Rheidol, Ystwyth, Wyre), III (Teifi, Aeron), IV (Tywi and S. Carm.), V (Wye), VI (Usk), VII (Severn), VIII (Nedd, Tawe). Also lists and reference numbers of new territories for 1994 and 1995.

Original file of correspondence, mainly between the Nature Conservancy, the Forestry Commission and the RSPB, relating to the kites breeding in the Ystwyth Forest at Hafod, co. Card., including maps of nest sites, 1947-1972, the policy of "playing down" the Hafod kite population (see also E 8), forestry operations, Kite Committee voluntary wardens, the Caravan Club site at Hafod Old Mansion, 1972-1974, and the sale of the Hafod Arms Hotel, with the sporting rights over the old Hafod estate, 1980.
