Account book of Harriet Ellen Clough

Account-book of Harriet Ellen Clough (afterwards Ellis) containing accounts, 1826-1836, and at the reverse end memoranda (chiefly births, marriages and deaths), 1831-1855.
Cuttings of advertisements have been pasted over a few of the pages. Harriet Ellen Clough [of Plas Clough, Henllan, Denbighshire] married the Rev. John Williams-Ellis of Glasfryn, Llangybi, Caernarvonshire, in 1831. Their daughter, Ellen Augusta, became the second wife of J. E. Griffith, Bryndinas, Upper Bangor.

Accounts and memoranda of the Rev. Owen Jones

A volume of accounts, memoranda, etc., 1764-1794, in the autograph of the Rev. Owen Jones (d. [at Beaumaris] 18 January 1795), rector of Newborough, 1747-1793, and Llaneilian, Anglesey, 1793-1795, with some additional entries to 1817 by his daughter, Catherine Jones [Brondeg, Beaumaris]. Also in the volume is a calendar of events, family and otherwise, 1751-1796, and a copy of the petition of William Jones, late of Hengai in the parish of Llangeinwen, Anglesey, labourer, confined in Beaumaris Gaol, 30 April 1766, to the Commissioners of HM Customs in London. Loose papers include two leaves probably from an earlier account- book, 1755-1756.

Bangor diocese Bishop's Transcripts, &c

A volume containing extracts from the Bishop's Transcripts of the diocese of Bangor arranged chronologically under parishes, with an index to the parishes. The extracts are followed by a list of wills proved at Bangor, 1634-99, with a further list, 1700-89, in alphabetical order according to surnames. At the end of the volume are copies of some memorial inscriptions, again with an index to the parishes.

Broadhead family of Anglesey pedigree

A 'Tentative Pedigree' of the Broadhead family of Anglesey, descended from Bartholomew Broadhead of Beaumaris, 1486. The pedigree includes details of Elizabeth Broadhead (1768-1828), the wife of the Rev. John Elias.

Caernarvonshire: A sketch of its History

A volume containing a manuscript version of Nicholas Owen, Caernarvonshire: A sketch of its History, Antiquities, Mountain and Productions (1792), probably in the autograph of the author.
At the reverse end is the beginning of an account of Anglesey, followed by items of a miscellaneous nature written in an earlier hand.

Cullen's lectures on physiology

A manuscript volume lettered on the spine 'Cullen's Lectures. 2' containing Lectures XXX-LXXIII on physiology by [William Cullen, MD (1710- 90)], 1772-1773. The lecturer appears to be commenting on paragraphs in a printed work of his own composition. The number '2' has been pasted on to the volume.

Cursory Remarks on the Island of Anglesey

A transcript, possibly in the hand of J. E. Griffith, of a work by William Williams, Llandygai, entitled 'Cursory Remarks on the ancient and present state of the county or Island of Anglesey'. A note in pencil reads 'Written by Wm Wms of Llandegai from 1800-6'. The original manuscript from which the transcript was made appears to have been similar to, but not identical with, NLW MS 822C, which is dated 1807.
This is followed by a transcript of ['Mona Antiqua'] 'Tyn-Trefoel or Dindryfal' and 'Cadmarth' by H[ugh] Prichard, Dinam, from Archaeologia Cambrensis, 1871, pp. 300-310;, some account of Treveilir, Llowarch ap Bran, Porthamel Isa now Plas Coch, and the family of [Henblas, Llangristiolus], etc.; copies of the following wills: Thos Ellis, Portynllaen, Caernarvonshire, 1704, William Williams of Brondanw, Merioneth, 1779, Moris Lloyd of Plas Bach, Cerrigceinwen, Anglesey, 1647, and Richard Maddock of Richmond Hill [Llanfair-is-gaer], Caernarvonshire (d. 1827), the administration of Lewis Meredydd, Cae Mawr, Llangeinwen, 1699, and the nuncupative will of Wm Glynne of Elernion, Caernarvonshire, 1695 (original at Plas Brereton); and a copy of 'Sir John Bodvel a ballad written by the Late Mr Jno. Diary of Rev. David Evans, Pontypridd

A copy of Letts's Eighteenpenny Diary and Almanack for 1863 containing manuscript entries by the Rev. Daniel Evans. At the beginning of the year he appears to have been curate in charge of the licensed school-room at Pontypridd in the district of Glyntaff. He then became assistant curate at Whitchurch and in December 1863 he was collated to the living of Pyle and Cynffig, all in the diocese of Llandaff. There are also some notes of later date, written mainly in pencil, in another hand. The above Daniel Evans may well be the same person as the Rev. Daniel Evans (d. 1875), who was rector of Penmorfa and Dolbenmaen, 1869-1875.

Letters from North Wales

The original manuscript of 'Letters from North Wales, Written by Catherine Hutton To Thomas Hutton, her Brother, from 1796 to 1800, And printed in the Monthly Magazine by Sir Richard Phillips 1816'. The title- page is signed 'Catherine Hutton, Jan. 4th. 1842' and the writer may have intended to publish the letters in book form.
Loose in the volume are the following items: an appreciation of 'The Late Miss Hutton. From the Birmingham Journal of March 21, 1846'; the words of a song; and reviews of three printed works by Catherine Hutton, viz. Oakwood Hall, The Tour of Africa and The Welsh Mountaineer (pages numbered 17-32, beginning and end wanting), in the autograph of Catherine Hutton.
