Tune-book containing anthems and hymn tunes by William Owen and others, including some classical composers whose work is found in William Owen's collection Y Cerddor Cenedlaethol published in 1854; with some draft music, probably by William Owen. Expressly by William Owen are Deemster (f. 3v, published in Y Perl Cerddorol, cyf. 1), Gwledd yr Eglwys (f. 37, tenor part only), Cwymp Babilon (f. 39v, published in Y Perl Cerddorol, cyf. 1), Anthem Dirwestol 'Wele wawr diwigiad mawr' (f. 51v) and Taith y Cristion 'Teithio rwyf fynyddau maith' (f. 73v). Also included are Molwch yr Arglwydd by John A[mbrose] Lloyd (f. 46v) and 'Rhodiasom trwy'r ddaear' by Edward Stephan (f. 61v). Imperfect at beginning. ff. 87. Covers lost. Two fragmentary tune-books: the first, ff. 1-10, apparently in the hand of William Owen, contains hymn tunes, perhaps composed by him; the second, ff. 11-61, begins in a hand not William Owen's (with pagination beginning with 29 on f. 11) and includes anthems and hymn tunes, the volume was then used, reversed, by William Owen for draft setting of tunes. Drafts of the anthem by William Owen (published in Y Perl Cerddorol, 1852); ff. 1-13 contain a complete drafts, ff. 14-21 fragments of earlier drafts. ff. 22-6 are unrelated to the preceding leaves and contain drafts of hymn tunes and the beginning of an anthem, not all in the hand of William Owen. The tune on f. 26 is by Robert Lloyd Owen, Prysgol. On f. 22 is the name John Owen Prysgol. Loose leaves brought together to make a volume. ff. 26. Formerly William Owen (Prysgol) MS 2.

Holograph manuscript of the hymn-tune 'Bryn Calfaria' by William Owen, 1850; four manuscript tune-books and loose manuscript music mostly in the hand of William Owen, including many of his own compositions, (watermark 1825)-[c. 1854]; together with some printed music relating to the composer and photographs relating to the memorial to him erected at Cae Athro in 1913.
