A manuscript entitled Poems on several occasions: by An imperfect Pen. According to a pencilled note on the title-page, the verses are by the late Reverend Samuel Phillips of Blethvaugh [Bleddfa], Radnorshire and were written between 1771 and 1797. Their subject-matter includes social events and epitaphs, mainly of Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire interest. A copy of a monumental inscription to Elizabeth, the wife of Samuel Phillips of Cwmygerwin, and eldest Daughter of James Moore of Newtown, in the county of Montgomery ... is attached to the inside of the cover, presumably referring to the poet's wife. Some of the poetry is addressed to James Moore. Attached to the title-page is a sheet of verses addressed in 1826 by J. P. [?roud] to Miss Moore of Handsworth.
