Account book of the schooner Hope

An account book, [1850]-1860, of the schooner 'Hope' of Aberystwyth, Cardiganshire, owned by Mary Williams (mother of the Rev. John Williams) and David Jenkins.
The volume contains accounts of cash laid out and received by the shiphusband and statements of account, 1853-1860 (ff. 12 verso-33). A copy of Reynolds' Original Birmingham Almanack for 1851 (1850) has been bound in at the end of the volume (ff. 134-141).

The Museum of Literature,

A scrapbook, begun in 1850 by the Rev. John Williams, entitled 'The Museum of Literature', containing press cuttings, [19 cent, second ½], relating mostly to current affairs, politics, notable figures, temperance and Sunday closing, and health and welfare. The majority of the cuttings appear to have been taken from The Illustrated London News.
Cuttings have been pasted in by Williams on pp. 1-215. Further items have been inserted loose in the remainder of the volume, while some 270 cuttings, mainly of more local interest, have been placed in archival envelopes.
