Aberystwyth Golf Club

The file includes a programme for the Club's twenty-first anniversary dinner, and B. G. Charles's manuscript review on the 'The Aberystwyth Golf Club. Aberystwyth social clubs

The file comprises papers relating mainly to the Saint David's Club in Aberystwyth, including a manuscript history of the club, 1980; a 'facsimile of the rules and regulations of the 'Old' Social Club, Aberystwyth, as originally drawn up on 14 March 1780', [?1980]; and notes relating to older social clubs in Aberystwyth including The Thirty Club dinner invitation, 1960, in memory of Frank Rees Owen, honorary secretary of the club for over a quarter of a century, together with biographical notes and sixtieth anniversary celebration dinner programme, 1984.

Bronglais Hospital Area Householders' Association Campaign

The file comprises correspondence, 1964, relating to the Bronglais Area Householders' Association formed in 1964 'to protect the interests of their community which were (and are) being adversely affected by the building of the new Regional Hospital by the Welsh Hospital Board', and a press release, 1965; Dr B. G. Charles was its chairman. A petition was also submitted to the Welsh Hospital Board.

The file comprises an address 'Siors Owen', part manuscript and part typescript, delivered by Dr B. G. Charles to Cymdeithas y Bedol, Aberystwyth, [formed in 1944], sometime before George Owen of Henllys: a Welsh Elizabethan was published in 1973, together with three letters, 1943-1949, from Francis Jones relating to the antiquarian.

The file comprises lectures, [1932x1998]: 'The Scandinavians in Wales' and 'The Scandinavian impact on Wales' for The Viking Club; notes for 'Enwau lleoedd, iaith a hanes'; 'Early Welsh antiquaries', Carmarthen, 1961; 'The House' (Trawscoed, Cards)' and a talk on pedigrees for the 30 Club, together with typescript lesson notes on Danish Grammar from lectures which Dr B. G. Charles attended at the University College, London, 1932-1934.

The file comprises an essay entitled 'The place names of any four of the Cantrevs of Dyved' which was awarded first prize at the Fishguard National Eisteddfod, 1936; together with lecture notes for 'Pembrokeshire place-names' delivered to the [Guild of Graduates], Haverfordwest National Eisteddfod, 1972.

The file comprises letters, 1967-1968, addressed to Dr B. G. Charles, relating to the foundation and funding of the Pembrokeshire Record Society, originally known as the Society for the Preservation of Pembrokeshire Records, together with his address given at the Society's inaugural meeting in Haverfordwest, January 1968.

Charles took part in and enquiries received by him as a result of this broadcast relating to farm names; a letter, 1972, relating to a farm called 'Ty Bôl' in Edeyrn, Caernarfonshire, which was featured on the programme 'Pynciau'r Tir'; and notes, [1937-1972], for an unidentified programme on place-names.
