Glamorgan railway contracts ,

Printed contracts of the Barry Dock & Railway, 1884-1885, including accounts relating to the contracts, some of which are filled in by hand; followed by a handwritten contract, 1888, also relating to the Barry Dock & Railway, which includes signed handwritten agreements of work from construction companies, etc., these including the Crawshay Brothers of London and Merthyr. The volume contains a printed index.

Printed contracts of the Vale of Glamorgan Railway, 1894-1896, with annotations, some of which are in shorthand, and including accounts relating to the contract, some of which are filled in by hand; together with typewritten agreements, 1894-1895, between the Vale of Glamorgan Railway and Pethick Bros of Plymouth.

Pethick v. Vale of Glamorgan Railway, &c.,

Material, 1897-1900, relating to the case of John Pethick & Pethick Bros of Plymouth v. the Vale of Glamorgan Railway Company, the arbitrator in the case being Sir James Weeks Szlumper, and including: printed material, May-December 1900, relating to the court case, with further handwritten, typewritten and printed reports, statements, accounts, etc.; a copy of Sir Benjamin Baker's report, 1898, on the Porthkerry Viaduct; and a printed claim, April 1900, of the Vale of Glamorgan Railway Company against John Pethick and Pethick Bros, with a handwritten amended claim, May 1900. The volume also includes a printed contract, 1894, of the Vale of Glamorgan Railway Company, including accounts, some of which are filled in by hand, together with hand written specifications, accounts, etc., 1895; a typewritten transcript of another court case, 1898, involving the Vale of Glamorgan Railway Company; copies of correspondence, 1897-1900, between the Vale of Glamorgan Railway Company and the Railway Department of the Board of Trade; and a printed copy of the 1889 Vale of Glamorgan Railway Act.

Handwritten and printed material relating to the Devon and Cornwall Central Railway Company (Plymouth and Devonport Extension) Bill 1883, including an agreement dated June 1883; printed and handwritten agreements made between the Plymouth, Devonport and South Western Junction Railway Company and John Pethick and others, 1886-1888, relating to construction work to be carried out on the Plymouth, Devonport and South Western Junction Railway, with estimated costs, together with two handwritten contract agreements, 1888, specifically referring to Tavistock Station and one handwritten contract agreement, 1889, specifically referring to Brentor Station; together with printed timetables, 1886-1887, of mail and passenger ships at Plymouth.

Printed and handwritten proposals, 1898, by the Lynmouth & Minehead Light Railway Company to construct a line from Lynmouth in Devon to Minehead in Somerset in accordance with the Light Railways Act of 1896, together with: printed, handwritten and typewritten estimates of costs; numerous typewritten oppositions to the proposal, including those of property-holders and landowners living along the proposed route, Somerset County Council and the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty; and newspapers cuttings, 1898, from the Western Daily Press, Bristol, relating to a public inquiry regarding the proposed railway scheme.
