Commonplace Book,

A manuscript used at three different periods for different purposes, containing Llanrwst tithe accounts, 1780-1783, veterinary and medical recipes written by John Roberts, 1806, and notes of reading, poetry, and adjudications at Merioneth eisteddfodau, by John Jones, skinner, Llanuwchllyn, 1823-1824. An interleaved and annotated copy of Edward Leigh, Critica Sacra; or, Philologicall and Theologicall Observations upon All the Greek Words of the New Testament, in Order Alphabeticall, 3rd edn (London: Printed by Roger Daniel for Thomas Underhill, 1650, ESTC R43372 / Wing L991A).
The volume forms the second part, with a separate dated title page and pagination, of the author's Critica Sacra in Two Parts…, 3rd edn (London: Printed by Abraham Miller and Roger Daniel for Thomas Underhill, 1650, ESTC R11616 / Wing L991). Latin glosses in black ink throughout, in a hand of the second half of the seventeenth century, are mostly cross-references to the works of Hugo Grotius. The watermark 'PRO' on blank leaves (not in Churchill) is similar to others of the second half of the seventeenth century.

Exercise book,

An exercise book belonging to Rev. Ivan Thomas Davies, Llanuwchllyn, the donor's father, containing a collection of Spanish proverbs with their English equivalents, 1872, a list of Welsh proverbs, A-D (incomplete), a story given the title (in pencil) 'Dic ddibris', [?1890x1900], and an address or article on 'Morgan Llwyd o Wynedd', [?1890x1900], and a notebook belonging to Ivan T. Davies, Llandrillo, containing notes, jottings, quotations, items of poetry by various authors, and memorable sayings etc. in the autograph of Rev. Ivan T. Davies, the donor's father, [?1890x1900] with an additional entry by the donor, [19]69. The donor suggests that 'Dic ddibris' may be a translation from Breton. In the story the main character is referred to as 'D.M.C.' (D. may care).

A collection of 'englynion', 'awdlau', and 'cywyddau' and one poem in free metre by Wmffre Dafydd ab Ifan, sexton of Llanbrynmair (fl. 1620-1660), and 'cywyddau' by Sion Tudor, Sion Phillips, William Phillipp, and Thomas Prys of Plas Iolyn, together with notes on the manuscript and on Hwmffre Dafydd ap Ifan by Dr T. Machynlleth Union,

Two books of counterfoils of tickets allowing articles of diet and nourishment to paupers in the Llanbrynmair, Darowen, Glyn-Trefnant and Pennant districts of Machynlleth Union, 1878-83. The name 'John Davies, Aug. 1878' is written inside the earlier of the two books.

An elegy upon the death of Mrs Eliza Jones, Bodoryn fawr, composed and written by William Rees ('Gwilym Hiraethog'), together with a list of names and addresses of persons from the Llanuwchllyn and Llangower districts serving in the armed forces during the First World War with their name of their home added in another hand, and an. 'An account of Tithe and Acres, in the Parish of Cemmes', undated, bearing the name of William Ryder, Maesmachreth, Cemmes, Montgomeryshire. Welsh, English.
