Amateur international match records

The series consists mainly of typed Team Record Sheets dating from 1907 to 1939 and 1947 to 1955. Prior to 1939 they contain only records of Amateur International Matches involving Wales. Sheets from 1947 to 1955 also contain details of Youth International Matches, Final Youth International Trial Matches (North Wales v. South Wales), Final Amateur International Trial Matches, Amateur International Trial Matches (Reds v. Blues) and Amateur Representative matches (F.A.W. XI v. Welsh Universities XI). The Record Sheets contain spaces to record the locations of matches and the date, players' names and clubs, the result, goal scorers, the names of the referee and linesmen as well as their fees, the team attendant, attendance and gate receipts. Sheets prior to 1939 have been signed, dated and certified correct. These appear to be later transcripts, compiled [c. 1954]. The details on these earlier sheets are generally less complete, consisting mainly of the details of the Welsh team only. The folder also contains a sheet detailing the squad for the 1947-1948 International Youth Football Tournament, a few handwritten record sheets, newspaper cuttings and a single match programme. There is also a 'List of Amateur Internationals to 1939 with Cardiff Corinthians and Cardiff City'.

F.A.W. minutes

The series consists of bound volumes containing minutes of the meetings of the Football Association of Wales, 1893-1986, comprising minutes of the Council's regular meetings, those of various standing committees and of other meetings such as the annual 'Rules' meeting and meetings to elect Council members from the regional associations as well as those of the four British Associations, of the International Football Association Board, and with national Football Leagues. From the 1964-1968 volume all forms of minutes were included with the printed Council minutes. Generally, about four Council meetings were held per year, although extra, special, and extra-ordinary meetings were also held. The meetings considered such subjects as international matches, refereeing, sanctioned competitions, membership, and correspondence. Reports were received from committees on international and other matches. Accounts were considered and generally approved. The first five volumes contain minutes pasted onto pages or in manuscript form. Subsequent volumes, up to 1964, consist of bound printed minutes with various insertions. These include letters notifying members of annual and special general meetings, annual reports with statements of accounts, items such as specimen election forms, letters, and notices and reports such as those of the International Football Association Board. Lists regarding the registration and transfer of players began to be included in 1905 while match programmes (chiefly for Wales's international matches) were included from the September 1928-March 1931 volume onwards. All such insertions were discontinued after the 1963-1964 volume. From 1906 minutes were allocated individual running series numbers. From 1/6 onwards the volumes are marked with these series numbers although a new series, commencing with the number '1', begins in volume 1/7 and runs unbroken (with one inconsistency) to 1939-1940. Another new series commenced in 1946-1947 and runs up to the latest volume.
