Bangor Bishopric foreshore rights,

Letter (17 pp.), 1885, from W. J. Hardy, Chancery Lane, London, outlining the result of searches carried out among records at the Public Record Office (now The National Archives), Lambeth Palace, and the British Museum, concerning the Bishop of Bangor's foreshore rights, including wreck of the sea, within all his manors and lands. Also included are extracts from, and abstracts of, documents, 1284-1715, from the three repositories; together with an abstract of a report entitled 'Bangor Bishoprick Estates. Foreshores and Waste Lands', prepared by H. W. Hewlett in 1866.

Letter, 1919, comprising details of searches undertaken on behalf of Sir Lewes T. Loveden Pryse, relating to the rights of wreck of the sea in the manors of East and West Pembroke, and enclosing extracts from, together with abstracts and translations, of records, 1248-1633, held mainly at the Public Record Office, now The National Archives, including Rentals and Surveys, Close and Patent Rolls, and Ministers' Accounts.

Flintshire waste lands, lead mines, and mineral rights,

Printed documentary evidence (with index) in a suit between the Attorney General and the Duke of Westminster, comprising extracts from, together with abstracts and translations of, records, 1585-1893, including leases and other conveyances, Patent Rolls, and correspondence between the Office of Woods and Forests and the Duke of Westminster. The documents relate to lead mines in the hundreds of Coleshill and Rhuddlan; rights of the Crown in waste lands in Flintshire, particularly in Halkyn and Northop; minerals and mineral rights on Halkyn mountain; and the claim of the Duke of Westminster to the manor of Holywell, Fulbrook and Greenfield, co. Flint.

Genau'r Glyn manor,

Transcripts and translations of three documents relating to the manor of Genau'r Glyn, Cardiganshire, namely an inspeximus charter of Edward III to Robert Clement, 1334; an inspeximus charter of Henry VI to John Griffin, 1427/8; and a covenant to levy a fine between John Wogan of Wiston, co. Pemb., and John John Pryse of Gogerddan, co. Card., 1568.

Reports on, together with transcripts and translations, 1868-1937, of records held mainly at the old Public Record Office, now The National Archives (TNA), prepared by Messrs Hardy and Page, record agents, Lincoln's Inn, London, together with relevant legal papers, some drawn up by James G. Wood (1843-1928). The searches were undertaken at the request of solicitors, and used as evidence in legal disputes, often relating to manorial lands throughout Wales, including foreshore rights, mineral rights, and fishery rights.

J. G. Wood library and manuscripts,

Typescript letter, 27 July 1928, to J. G. Wood's daughter in London, regarding her late father's library and manuscripts, including a recommendation that the manuscripts be transferred to the Monmouthshire Museum, Newport. Schedules of the manuscripts, documents and books, are also included. The items in the schedules reflect J. G. Wood's antiquarian interests, the history of Monmouthshire in particular, rather than his work as a lawyer as reflected in this archive.

Legal papers in a suit at the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, between John Blandy Jenkins and Richard Thomas (plaintiffs) and the Earl of Dunraven and David Leyshon (defendants), concerning farms and lands in the parish of Llangeinor, co. Glam. The papers include a statement of claim of the defendants, a reply by James G. Wood to the defence, together with his opinion on the evidence.

Extracts from, together with abstracts and translations of, records, 13 cent.-19 cent., relating to the Mawddach (Abermo) Fishery, co. Mer., held at the Public Record Office, now The National Archives, including Patent and Close Rolls, Ministers' Accounts, Land Revenue Enrolments and Accounts, Court of Augmentation Proceedings; Rentals and Surveys; Plea Rolls, and Exchequer Depositions; together with abstracts from, and transcripts of, deeds from the Peniarth and Nannau estates. Also included is the legal opinion, 1923, of Nathaniel Micklem, KC, and John Harmen, in the case Vaughan v Jones regarding the said fishery.

They relate mainly to lands and properties in Monmouthshire, some relating to the lordship and priory of Chepstow, the manors of Usk, Caerleon and Trelleck, the lands of the Earl of Pembroke, and to the parish of Mathern, and also to properties in Gloucestershire. No information is provided regarding the legal case to which these documents refer.
