Letter: John Trumper from Clifford Vicarage, to [William Pugh, steward],

He wishes recipient to hold a leet, if it is necessary. The encroachments have not been thrown open these twenty years. He intends holding a meeting at Summerpole. He has been informed that the constable of the parish will charge 1s. or 1s.6 a head, and if another person can be sworn it would save that expense. He supposes notice must be put on the Church door a week or nine days previously, and that there must be twelve jurymen. He will send his man John Stokes to be sworn. He would not be so anxious to hold a leet at present but for the fact that he is afraid that those who have enclosed his lands would take advantage.
