A letter, 2 February 1817 (watermark 1801), to [the Rev. George] Robson, prebendary of St Asaph and rector of Erbistock (ff. 135-136), and another to his wife, 1 October 1827 (watermark 1823) (f. 137), from Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, 'The Ladies of Llangollen'. Both letters are in the hand of [?Eleanor Butler]. They are mainly concerned with local affairs, relating in particular to the parish clerk of Llangollen, [Robert Wynne-Eyton], and his wife (ff. 135-136).

Two letters, 1969-1970, in Welsh, from Saunders Lewis to Geraint Eckley, concerning the latter's research on W. J. Gruffydd.
The letters contain comments on W. J. Gruffydd's literary and academic work (f. 155) and directions to Lewis' house in Penarth (f. 156).

A letter, 2 May 1961, from Robert Lloyd (Llwyd o'r Bryn) to Cynfab Roberts, relating mainly to the inauguration of a memorial to Robert Roberts (Bob Tai'r Felin) at Cwmtirmynach, Merionethshire.
He refers to a disagreement with R. L. Gapper over the memorial (f. 189 verso). The letter was published, in part, in Diddordebau Llwyd o'r Bryn, ed. by Trebor Lloyd Evans (Swansea, 1966), pp. 224-5 (omitting the reference to Gapper).

A postcard and an incomplete letter, 1957, from the novelist Naomi Gwladys Royde-Smith to her sister Maud Royde-Smith, containing mainly personal news.

A letter, dated 20 July 1763, from S[amuel] Garbet, Worcester, son of the topographer Samuel Garbet, and formerly curate of Wem, Shropshire, to a female cousin in Wales.

A letter, 9 August 1989, from the poet Raymond Garlick to manuscript collector Colin Huggett (f. 44), enclosing photocopies and original drafts of four published poems.
These comprise photocopies of worksheets of 'Miss Puw' and 'Emma von M. von N.', [?1974] (ff. 45-46), emended typescripts of 'Auguries of Guilt', 1968-1987 (ff. 47-48), and the emended manuscript and typescript of 'The Truth about Troy', 1989 (ff. 49-51). The letter includes comments on the poems and a description of his working methods.

A letter, 30 January 1940, from Dylan Thomas to E. F. Bozman at J.M. Dent & Sons, his publishers, sending corrected proofs of his Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog (London, 1940), and discussing the listing of his previous works in the volume.

A letter, [1943], from the artist Frances Richards addessed to hitherto unidentified friends ('Nell & Alfred'), discussing the recent work of both herself and her husband, Ceri Richards.

A letter, 6 October 1913, addressed to Tom Hughes Jones from H. Lloyd Jones (ff. 75-77, English), together with a letter, 13 January 1917, to the same recipient from Ambrose Bebb, describing the latter's recent experiences as a conscientious objector before a Military Service Tribunal (ff. 72-74, Welsh).
In pencil in another hand (ff. 76 verso, 77) are various texts, including excerpts of poetry by Joaquin Miller and George Meredith, together with Alfred Russel Wallace's postal address.

A letter, 2 October 1990, from the poet R. S. Thomas to Tom Ellis, former MP for Wrexham, regarding a controversial speech by Thomas on the movement of non-Welsh speaking immigrants into the Welsh language heartland (f. 95, Welsh). Also included is a postcard, 1998, sent by Thomas to Ellis reacting to an article concerning Seamus Heaney in Prospect Magazine (f. 96, Welsh).
Accompanying the letter is a cutting of an article by Ellis ('British justice in the dock', Western Mail, 1 October 1990, p. 10) concerning Thomas' speech (f. 94, English).

A letter, November 1954 (dated 'Calan Gaeaf MCMLIV' [1 November 1954] but completed at a later date), and decorated with a coloured inscription, from the artist and writer David Jones to the dramatist, poet and critic Saunders Lewis.
The letter contains personal news and refers to the Lewis's contribution to a radio broadcast about David Jones transmitted on the Welsh Home Service, 29 October 1954 (see NLW, Alun Oldfield-Davies Papers 27 for a copy of the script).

A letter, 20 March 1967, from Anthony Wedgwood Benn, MP for Bristol South East, to the Welsh language activist and nationalist campaigner, John Ifor Jones, Aberystwyth, discussing the difficulties and limitations of nationalism in Britain.

A letter, 23 December 1939, from the English poet Edmund Blunden, Oxford, to Geoff Myatt, a cricketing team-mate, apparently enclosing a copy of John Brunton's Book (Cambridge, 1939) as a Christmas present.
He refers to his wife Sylva's army career and to a recent cricket match at Trent Bridge.

A letter, 3 December 1927, in Welsh, from Saunders Lewis to the Rev. D. Llewelyn Jones, Pontrhydygroes, Cardiganshire, relating to Lewis's Williams Pantycelyn (London, 1927), reviewed by D. Llewelyn Jones in Baner ac Amserau Cymru, 20 December 1927, p. 7, and 27 December 1927, p. 5.
There is an explanatory note by D. Llewelyn Jones on the envelope (f. 149a verso).

Three letters, 1963, 1966, 1970 (ff. 157-159), from R. S. Thomas to the author and book collector Eric Quayle, thanking him for a donation for the village school at Eglwysfach, Cardiganshire (f. 157), and for several gifts of books.
Three photographs, [?1970s], of Eglwysfach Vicarage (f. 160), and church (ff. 161-162) are also included. There is a reference to Sir Rupert Hart-Davis on f. 158.

A letter, 12 November [18]90, from a certain Will[iam] W[ ... ], a Welsh emigrant to South Africa, to his family in North Wales. He writes from Cape Town, prior to going on to Kimberley.

An apparently unpublished letter, [Autumn 1937], from Dylan Thomas, Blashford, Hampshire, to Hermann Peschmann, poet and editor. Thomas discusses giving a poetry reading and asks Peschmann to forward a letter to the poet Anna Wickham.

Two letters in Latin, 1756 and 1762, from the historian and geographer Vito Maria Amico e Statella of Catania, Sicily, to Thomas Pennant, chiefly relating to crustaceans and molluscs.
In the first letter, 1 January 1756 (ff. 175-176), he arranges to send Pennant marine specimens; in the second, [23 November] 1762 (ff. 177-178), written just before Amico's death, and mainly in the hand of an amanuensis, he sends sample shells of snails and shellfish.

A single leaf containing two songs, possibly incomplete, [c. 1830], one in English, 'A little song composed for Miss H. M. Bootes by J. Parry' (f. 179), and the other in French, 'Air François' (f. 179 verso, deleted), written in a hand resembling that of John Parry (Bardd Alaw), but which may be that of his son, John Orlando Parry.

A letter, [Summer of 1923 or 1924], signed 'Tristan', from D. James Jones (Gwenallt), Aberystwyth, to Esyllt Jones (later Mrs Esyllt Clarke, New Zealand), concerning personal matters and describing his day-to-day life in Aberystwyth during the Summer (ff. 190-191).
Also included is an explanatory letter, 24 November 1977, from the donor (ff. 192-193).
