The series consists of manuscript and typescript drafts of all of Bernice Rubens's novels published between 1960 and 1999, together with notes relating to the novels and stage and screen adaptations of them, and also a few short stories. Many of the novels were published with little emendation after one or two drafts.

The file contains manuscript and typescript drafts and notes for A solitary grief (London: Sinclair-Stevenson, 1991).

The pledge,

The file contains a manuscript draft screenplay and notes for The pledge, adapted by Bernice Rubens from the play by Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921-1990).
