Manuscripts and rare books relating mostly to the counties of Brecknockshire and Carmarthenshire, on subjects such as history, topography and especially genealogy, 1604-1859, including a transcript of the Golden Grove Book of pedigrees and other pedigrees, relating mainly to South Wales families; 19th century transcripts and copies of letters, including some from Sir Walter Raleigh, [1624]-[1807]; lists of Carmarthenshire sheriffs and Brecknockshire Lords Lieutenant, 1809-1849; parts of original manuscripts of Theophilus Jones and William Owen Pughe, [1792]-[1805]; notebooks and scrapbooks, 1839; and various annotated printed books; and deeds and other documents, 1588-1911, relating mostly to properties in Brecknockshire (particularly in the parish of Bronllys), with a few relating to Carmarthen and Swansea.

Quarter Sessions order book,

Orders made at the Quarter Sessions for Breconshire from Michaelmas 1670 to Hilary 1685, together with records of licences granted to agisters and inn-keepers at quarter and special sessions from 23 to 26 Charles II. Bound in leather boards. This volume has been returned to the Clerk of the Peace for Brecknockshire with the consent of the Executor of the depositor. (signed) W. Ll. Davies, 1933.

Cardigan

One of a series of twenty-one volumes, watermarks 1906, containing transcripts by Ethell Noyes from manuscripts in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, and from a copy of the Golden Grove Book of Pedigrees. This volume contains Cardiganshire genealogies, including those of Elystan Glodrydd (ff. 10-16, 65-66), Gwaethfoed (ff. 17-35, 54-61), and Tudwal Gloff (ff. 35-53, 61-65, 67-73, 101-119).

Pedigrees, impropriations and ecclesiastical benefices.

Bundle of papers including a notebook containing 'Ancient pedigree of many of the first families in south Wales' and lists of 'Impropriations with cure of souls, and chappells annexed, with vicarages now become stipendarys' and of 'Ecclesiasticall benefices in the Bishops gift, the incumbents, and the common reputed value of them' in the diocese of St Davids.

Extract from books and newspapers with press cuttings and coloured prints, including extracts from Brown Willis' Survey of Bangor, P. B. Williams' Tourist's Guide through the county of Caernarvon, 1821, copies of monumental inscriptions and biographical and topographical material relating to Wales. A short index at the end of the volume is the work of Gwilym Lleyn, according to a note by Joseph Joseph. 384 Pp. Bound in vellum boards. Signature of John Hughes, BA, 1839.
