Comprises letters to his son Richard, 1872 (references to the construction of the Ffestiniog-Betws-y-Coed Railway, mining ventures, the Methodist association), letters from his wife, Jane Davies from London, 1873 (reference to the Tichborne trial), letters from William Pierce, Ore Banks, Virginia, 1878-1881, relating to the death of his son David, letters from Daniel Rowlands, Normal College, Bangor, 1870, concerning the new School Board for Beddgelert, Joseph Thomas, Carno, 1876, and T. A. Masey, 1867, about Hafod-y-llan slate quarry. The papers also include evidence [c.1870s] by him on slate quarries in the neighbourhood of the proposed Merioneth railway from Ffestiniog to join the Cambrian Railway at Talsarnau; several items, presumably intended for publication in the local press, including reminiscences of 'Ysgol Pentre'r Felin', 'Ysgol Tremadoc', ‘Yr Eisteddfod’, ‘Maddeuant’, etc. Copy of W. R. Spencer’s Gelert's Grave, presented by Pierce Davies to H. D. Hughes in memory of David, son of Pierce, who was killed by lightning, 1 October 1853; newspaper cuttings, 1876-1879, most undated; various receipts, 1866-1876; and 'Hir-a-thoddeidiau' in memory of Pierce Davies, submitted for competition at an eisteddfod at Tabernacle [Porthmadog], 1883.
